Probably because it is a capsule that would be impossible to get the correct dose, is my guess.

It sounds expensive. I would call around to different pharmacies.

Make sure you have the dosage and concentration ie: how many mg in each cc or ml. And..the total cc or ml.

Bella weighs about 5.5 lbs and she needs 1mg to 1.25ml. If we were to buy over the counter prilosec it'll be too much since it's 20mg and it'll be hard to split that so we had to get it compounded.

Cannot be split. They are capsules so it would be impossible to get the correct dosage.

I do think you might find it somewhere else cheaper, though.

Do you mean she is taking 1 mg IN 1.25 ml? or are you confusing mg and ml?
How many mg are in each ml and how many ml are in the bottle?

Omeprizole is Prilosec, Well visa versa and is OTC. But we need the dogs weight for dosage. She needs to talk to her vet about it. Mine weighed 4 1/2 lbs and took 1/4 tab 2 times a day. A pill cutter works fine. They are oval pills not caps

It says 30 C-omeprazole 2mg/ml and to give bella .625 ml or 1.25 mg daily

I know what it is. The only ones I have seen are capsules. I have seen the Prilosec and also the generics.

How many mg is in a pill that you're giving your dog though? That will make alot of difference in splitting the pill.

That is such a small amount that you totally would NEVER be able to calculate it.

I just wonder if you could find it for less money. Certainly worth calling around since you may be using more of it!

I think you might be thinking of Pepcid which is frequently given to dogs and that IS the dosage. 1/4 of a tablet!

I'm guessing the 30 means how much is in the bottle. I know I will def need more in about a month. It'll be hard to find a cheaper place especially because there's only this one compounding pharmacy in my town and that was where we got it from.

I am sure you could order it from another pharmacy in another town! Definitely worth looking in to. Might not be worth it if you have to pay for shipping, but I would ask around anyway.

I am going to be speaking with my vet tomorrow and will ask her for some ideas.

No it was omeprizole pepcid does not slow the production of the spinal fliud she also took Theophylline/compounded. The C before the omeprizole stands for compuonded FYI for the OP. And my baby has been in heaven for almost a year now. She passed away at 11 yrs. So I can't remember exact dosses but I do know the prilosec was in pill form and I 1/4 them with the pill cutter. She also took pred. She was diagnosed at WSU. I would discuss these meds with the Dr and mention the Theophlline. I was told that was a must. And she lived 11 yrs so they did something rite I would say.
