| ![]() Corrine, I am so sorry you and Ted have been threw so much. Your intuition was right on. I am happy to read Ted will get that much needed surgery on Mon and finally be able to breathe the way he's suppose to. Poor baby having such difficulty breathing. I know it must have ripped your heart apart listening to his gasping. I hope the weekend goes by fast for the two of you so all this can just be over and you can get back to a normal, happy life with your boy. Will watch for an update on Mon, Hugs and best wishes for Ted on Monday, ![]() |

| ![]() Now that's terrifying. You're right - it could've been anything. I will be keeping a much closer eye on mine from now on. Although, I don't know what more you could've done or how you could've known.

| ![]() The surgeon said it was "rare"; so don't worry yourself sick. Just if your baby does choke and weird breathing starts few days later, it is a possibility something is lodged up high in the nose area. thanks, you guys. It has been a roller coaster. They assure me though Ted sounds so horrible (he will breathe through tiny air space in nose and refuse to open mouth till he absolutely has to then gasp) that he can breathe and not life threatening. Do me a favor and watch your babies breathe today. Do they ever sit and breathe through their mouth? Ted refuses to. Insists on struggling through the nose unless he is in car panting and then there is no awful noise cause he's using mouth. It's been so long since he's breathed normal I don't even know if he ever did breathe through mouth or only nose. |

| ![]() Yes, I would definitely inform those other vets about how ridiculous they made you feel in denying any possibility that the carrot may've had anything to do with Ted's breathing difficulties. How dare they insult a concerned pet owner like that! Please let us know when Ted's out of surgery, and may God be with him. ![]() ![]() |

| ![]() I don't know how I missed this before. What a story! Thank goodness it was finally diagnosed. Prayers for you and little Ted. Hope that carrot is out soon and he is breathing normally again.

| ![]() Wow, I'm so sorry about Ted. That's awful that none of the vets took you seriously. I'm glad they finally listened to you and that in a few short days (although they'll probably feel like forever) he'll be as good as new ![]() |

| ![]() So glad that they finally figured out what it is that is giving poor Ted such a rough time. Just would have been sooner had they listened to you! But at least now things can move along and Ted will be back to his normal self. ![]()

| ![]() Hugs and prayers to you both... Just thinking... he may be trying to breathe through his nose to try to dislodge the carrot, and by now it may have become habit?...

| ![]() The diagnosis they gave me after catscan and rhinoscope is : Caudal nasal/choanal mass - suspect either polyp or inflammation secondary to foreign body. Soft tissue mass 2cm X 2cm at choanae (back of nose above hard palate) mild bony destruction thought to be caused by pessure of the mass. So the surgeon believes the carrot has become surrounded in the soft tissue which has formed around it. The biopsy came back not cancerous. He said it was very rare and most likely he inhaled piece of carrot when he choked over a month ago. Rare that it would sit long enough to encase in tissue but he has seen it happen with bee-bees (gun). My friends want me to ask for the carrot piece and set it in gold. He'll go in tomorrow evening, surgery Monday. He's still here making the noise; though it does sound a little better since they cut off a piece for the biopsy. |

| ![]() My thoughts and prayers are offered for a successful ending to Ted's escapade. Once this is removed he'll be breathing easier I'm sure. Wow, what an ordeal for all involved, especially Ted.

| ![]() Thanx, Wemple. It's the weirdest thing ever. I took him to vet on Dec 21st (few days after choking on carrot) thinking, "I better get this taken care of before Xmas and wind up in emergency). Six vet visits later, here we are. Initially vets convinced me there was no chance it was related to the choking incident, but his breathing just kept getting worse, even with medication. So lesson learned. The surgeon and his team (oh, yes, Ted now has 4 physicians attending to him) are surprised that a piece of food would stay lodged so long in that area. so it is quite rare, but just my luck, we're the "rare" ones. All I can say is if your pet ever chokes and weird breathing starts in the followin days make sure they "listen" to that fact. It will save your pet a lot of unnecessary meds and prodding and save you a lot of money to go straight to a specialist. thanx for your prayers. luv corrinne |

| ![]() You are welcome. I have learned so much from YT, needless to say I wish you and Ted never had to go through this horrifying experience, but maybe, just maybe this will be the answer to someone out there with a similar problem. I know I am now aware of the possibility of this happening. Best wishes once again, hope Ted is back to his old self real soon, I'll be praying for him and thinking about you...

| ![]() Ted's surgeon said he did well in surgery. He did have to cut soft and hard palate to reach the mass and still could not get it all out; so then had to scrape (I think he called it burr the bone?) and feels he got it all out. He said it was as big as his fingertip. No visible carrot but he had not cut into the mass yet when I spoke to him. He will do another biopsy to make sure it is not diseased. He said even if they don't find carrot, it could have been lodged for a time to cause inflammation which created a polyp type thingy. Ted is in hospital about an hour away; so I went over there from work but they would not allow me to see him tonight. Naturally I was petrified something is wrong but they assure me he's ok and was still out of it and just didn't want him to move or anything. If all goes well, he may come home Wednesday. Thank you everyone. Not out of the woods yet..but almost. I sure do miss my wee man. luv corrinne xoxox |
