Yes, I would definitely inform those other vets about how ridiculous they made you feel in denying any possibility that the carrot may've had anything to do with Ted's breathing difficulties. How dare they insult a concerned pet owner like that! Please let us know when Ted's out of surgery, and may God be with him.
