They are giving her false hope IMO. Telling her they will help her keep a pup that most of us realize is not a reality based decision. History has proven she does not have the means to properly care for this puppy. This is not just a "bad economy" problem. This is someone who probably wanted a cute little yorkie and was not advised of what can happen and how much it costs to care for one. She is young, and caring for a yorkie is expensive even when the pup is a healthy one. And...there are often other types of emergencies that owners must be prepared for. This is her first exposure to this and I would hope that someone would help her understand that this is for Melody....and help her LEARN from this experience. It is sadly one of life's hard lessons. Again..."what does not kill us makes us stronger".
If you go back and read the first page, she was told to get in touch with a rescue, she said she did but heard nothing else about it. I don't think anyone was planning on helping with surgery and then handed her back to Krystal afterward knowing she can't care for her.

I also think she thought that we would help melody get her surgery and then give her back to her. then help with the other bills that came up. Krystal does not want to give melody up to anyone.

Like you I give up my heart broken, if she goes to a rescue I will help also, but I will not send Melody back to Krystal.
and what about the other pup?

I live in Knoxville, Tn years ago and my sister still lives there now as I have said before she is willing to pick her up at the airport and take her to UT. I had account there and assume I still do. UT was the only vet we use for 15 yrs.I am going to be honest I know nothing about liver stunts, I prayed my babies and my fosters dogs that we never do. but I have read enough on YT to know it's something you don't wait and see when it's as bad as melody is.

I also wonder if they have already waited to long for help.
Here we go, now this is the kind of person we need here. She is WILLING to pick the dog up at the Airport. UT is half the price and BETTER.

and what about the other pup?

I do NOT believe she contacted any rescue. I don't need you to tell me to go back and read that stuff. I contacted the one in TN that would more than likely have been contacted and they never heard from her. I asked what rescue...just like everyone has asked who the breeder is. We are being fed small snippets of what someone wants us to hear...OH BUT YTers are supposed to foot the bill for THAT? mindboggling

Seriously...you need to read the posts instead of advising me to. I have been offering to help get this pup in a rescue since day one....and in PM TO KRYSTAL! She answered my PM so clearly she DID get a response from a rescuer...I AM A RESCUER.

She hooked up with people who led her to believe she should keep her puppy. Oh, I am sure she wanted to hear just that. But...does anyone here know about enabling?

This is just ridiculous. Why do I continue to read this bs. IF THIS GIRL REALLY WANTS TO HELP MELODY SHE KNOWS HOW!

Sounds great on paper...but do we know this person? No disrespect. But...rescues check people out thoroughly before adopting. I would never encourage someone to send a pup to someone just because they are online offering.
Someone needs to verify things before anyone takes this puppy.

I am offering an alternative plan here!!!
I will call Yorkies Inc right now. I know its a very long flight but at least we have option if no other rescues have called Krystal back. I can gaurantee that if Kathleen and Krystal opt to use this option that I will have an answer with in 5 minutes of thier decision to let Melody come to Massachusetts. I am free to pick up the puppy Anytime , day or night and meet someone at Logan Airport.

Now THIS is a valid plan. If someone is against the other rescues named, how about Yorkies, Inc??

I had not mentioned them since I am quite sure the cost will be higher, but if they have someone experienced in shunts to do the surgery, why not?

I too could pick this puppy up at the airport and take her to UT. but as stated above no one knows me or has any reason to trust me. I would not
hand my puppy over to just anyone, but in Krystals position I would hand her over to a Rescue. I have stated above and will state again-I WILL PAY FOR TRANSPORTATION FOR MELODY TO UT, BUT ONLY IF SHE IS WITH A RESCUE.

my E-mail address is: sallyannfrazier@msn.com if Krystal chooses to give her this chance at life.

YorkiesINC, is a rescue and an excellent one at that, the vet they use is very skilled in Liver Shunt Surgery. They are open 24 hours so if Melody could get here she could possibly be saved. Yorkiesinc has a web site, with a paypal button to help each individual dog in need, it is a legitimate RESCUE. So anyone and everyone offering to help will be able to through a paypal button. Pictures are posted of the puppy, updates are given as often as possible. The vet they use is a wonderful surgen and has already saved 4 puppies with LS who are now living great lives.
After Melody is better, a home will be found for her, applications to get a puppy will be filled out, they do home visits, vet checks , require fenced in yard. They check back on the puppy , we will all get so see her pictures as she recovers. We will get to see Melodys picture from her new forever home and read updates.. This is what is best.
They dont even have to talk to me, they can contact them and make arraingments themselves!!

Exactly what I was thinking.

If we get Melody into rescue NOW, everyone who wanted to donate can donate directly to the rescue group to help with her surgery. Since rescues are non-profit, it is also tax deductible. It is much safer to donate to a legitimate rescue group than to send money to someone you only know from some posts on a forum.

Has anyone heard an update on Melody in the last 24 hours? I am so afraid it is already too late to save her.

Maybe Kathleen is too busy with Geisha right now to give updates on Melody.

As you can see, she posted on that thread with an update...yesterday.

I would be more than willing to donate for her care to Yorkies Inc if she were to turn her over. Please let me know if this works out, and I will pray that it does. I Love Little Posey, I have followed her story and it is amazing.

Ditto, this is a VERY reputable rescue! They work tirelessly to help the breed!
Everyone should take a look at their website to see what they do!

I am still working on some funding issues. But she would have to give the dog up to the rescue. I live in California and there is a vet here that is qualified to do the surgery who was trained by Dr. Tobias. I have talked to them and they are willing to provide a discount to a rescue to do the surgery. THis way she would not have to go through the stress of the plane ride. But SHE WILL HAVE TO GIVE HER UP if this little one is to be helped and yes people could donate to help pay for her surgery. I need to look into the after care but I would be willing to foster her as I have two special need girls and I love them. They have a very special place in my heart

That would be great, now if Krystal will agree to do that.
