My poor Melody

I can't say too much just incase it does not pan out but let me just say I may have found funds to pay for this baby's surgery. I am just waiting to hear back. Keep your fingers crossed.

I waited too on a vet and lost Ichabob (my heart and soul) when most likely he could of been save if I had just done something sooner. I will never forgive myself ever.

I know that, but UT is a teaching hospital vet school, we open account in melody name using my account as person responsible for the balance. melody would have to be turn over to me, and some YT member we know and trust that lives in Knoville area would take over after she get out so all of us would know she is being taken care of and have follow up visit at UT. who ever that might be would set up her account and we donate through that account for her after care if needed.

I am really hoping that the funds for Melody become available, because even if there is an account set up for Melodys after care that does not mean that Krystal can afford the flight from California to Tenn and the accomodations while there, I know this is thinking in the future, but in Planning Melonys medical care this is something that needs to be addressed...we have to remember that she has another puppy too !!!

When you say turn the puppy over to you do you mean forever or just until she has recovered from the operation ? Will she then be flown back to California?

I am praying so hard right now that the funds are available and Melody gets flown to Tenn sooner then later?

I don't think crystal has means to take care of melody now or after, so someone would have to take her afterwards that lived in or near UT for visits. This is a long term illness from what I been reading, it's never really over.
My sister would take her she lives in knoxville, but like me has never had a liver problem dog. Crystal would have to giver her up for melody sake.

I don't understand why this is any different than turning her over to a rescue group.

Private individuals, although well meaning, trying to scrape together the funds when time is running out for Melody rather than just turning her over to rescue immediately makes no sense to me. Either way, Krystal would have to give Melody up so why not get her the help now, while she still has a chance?

It's not, rescue would be great or even better they know about liver shunts, I just want her somewhere FAST. I thought maybe for unknow reason Krystal didn't want her to go into a rescue for whatever reason.

This is what I cannot understand?? It should be very clear this girl cannot take care of Melody long term, and if she survives there will be a LONG TERM plan needed to be put in place. NO one can depend on the promise from strangers to help in the future. I understand that none of us on YT are vets, and we can not assess Melodys condition, but from the sound of things the vet she is using doesn't know too much about LS either, so she needs to get to a Specialist who can assess her condition!! I will help pay for her transportation to UT, but only if she is turned over to a RESCUE who can see her needs are met.

Krystal going to have to let her go one way or another. It's up to her. she the only one that can make that decision.

I swore no more....

But....if people were not running around all scattered and would support rescue then maybe she would go for it. Does not seem to me that the people advising her are rescue friendly. I hope I am wrong.

They are giving her false hope IMO. Telling her they will help her keep a pup that most of us realize is not a reality based decision. History has proven she does not have the means to properly care for this puppy. This is not just a "bad economy" problem. This is someone who probably wanted a cute little yorkie and was not advised of what can happen and how much it costs to care for one. She is young, and caring for a yorkie is expensive even when the pup is a healthy one. And...there are often other types of emergencies that owners must be prepared for. This is her first exposure to this and I would hope that someone would help her understand that this is for Melody....and help her LEARN from this experience. It is sadly one of life's hard lessons. Again..."what does not kill us makes us stronger".

What I mean by this either Melody going to die in Krystal care or she going to let her go to a rescue.

IF someone could fly with her from California to Massachusetts I will personally pick the puppy up at Logan Airport, I will actually help pay for the flight.. I am free to meet someone ANYTIME, I will then bring Melody to Yorkiesinc rescue located here in Massachusetts, we have a very skilled Vet located at Cape Cod vet Hospital who has sucessfully completed LS operations on tiny pups!! I am offering an alternative plan here!!!
I will call Yorkies Inc right now. I know its a very long flight but at least we have option if no other rescues have called Krystal back. I can gaurantee that if Kathleen and Krystal opt to use this option that I will have an answer with in 5 minutes of thier decision to let Melody come to Massachusetts. I am free to pick up the puppy Anytime , day or night and meet someone at Logan Airport.
