| Jamie~ Chewie was a doll and he was and is so lucky to be loved by you and to have had you as his mommy. I am so sorry you had the bad vet experiences. I have found that it is so important to do a lot of my own research and to get lots of second opinions and even use a variety of vets because I have only had my yorkies for 10 moinths but have been through a lot of vets. I have also educated myself on vaccines and other so called normal protocols that most vets ascribe to and there is a lot of good info on the web in addition to some really great homeopathic vets who offer alternatives which are less invasive and work even better than some of the traditional western veterinary medicine. I find that a combination of homeopathic and western vets works well for me and my family. Good luck with your new baby and may your wonderful memories of Chewie be with you forever. |

| I am so sorry to just be reading of the loss of your baby. Did any of your vets suggest there might be hydrocephaly as one of the causes of the seizures? I am sorry and I am not trying to make things worse or second guess your vet or the ER but the pic of Chewie has some of the look of a puppy with that condition. I have seen 2 puppies with it and they have a certain look. Will the breeder allow you to come and pick out the puppy you want as a replacement? It is very important to be hands-on when you pick the new baby. I just recently felt healed enough to get another baby and my Jesse has been dead for a good while. BUT, getting anew puppy has helped me a lot to heal that hole in my heart. I will remember you and your new baby in my prayers.... |

No one ever suggested anything except hypoglycemia prior to his final seizures. The emergency vet said that because he was panting quite a bit when I brought him in that the seizures could have been caused by him not getting enough oxygen to his brain. The other vet said after his death that she thought he had been hit on the head but nothing like that EVER happened to Chewie unless my roomates did something to him while I was away from the house. What do you mean when you say Chewie had the "look" of a puppy with hydrocephaly? Is there a sign I should look out for when I go to pick my new puppy? I've never heard of this condition before, but looked it up after your post. She did tell me that he had an open fontal, couldn't that cause water to build-up around his brain?? She did tell me that the open fontal was very common at his age though, and wasn't a big concern to her. There are so many things that could go wrong it seems.... The first few days I spent all my time trying to read back to all of his symptoms to find out the cause, but then I just got tired. I will never know for absolute sure what happened to by baby, and it's easier to just let go of that part and remember our good times together. I'm just lucky I have two beautiful healthy kitties to keep me company at night. My female cat, Rocky, noticeably went though a bout of depression after Chewie died. They used to play together all the time and she would wrap her paws around him and start bathing him throughout the day. He'd get so mad and start growling and barking! It was the cutest thing. My roomates recently got a new kitten, though, and that's keeping my Rocky busy. Things are slowly getting back to normal. The breeder has been keeping constant contact with me since his death and she is definately going to let me personally pick out of the litter. She let me pick Chewie out of the litter first too. If there are signs I should look out for when I pick my new furbaby out, I'd be glad to know. I definately don't want to go through this heartbreak again! Please feel free to post any suggestions. | I just saw this thread and wanted to tell you that I am so sorry for your loss. Another puppy could never, ever replace little Chewey but could help ease the pain and can certainly make it's very own place in your heart! One thing I have learned about animal lovers .... we all have very big hearts! God bless you & your family.
