| I am so sorry for your loss. As I told another poster, you can never replace the puppy that has gone, but you can love another just as much. We all have so much love to give that we can always find more for another puppy. Especially when they give you so much love. It comes back to you ten-fold. I know everyone is different, and some people cannot face getting another so soon, but it has always been the best medicine for me. |

| Don't know when this happened to little Chewie? I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Only time can dull the pain and that will take a long long time. Just know that Chewie is running and playing at the Rainbow Bridge, with all the other little ones that have gone on to a no pain life. Again, my condolences go out to you! | Oh no... I'm so sorry for you loss. The only way to look at it now, is that Chewie in a better place where he is happy, healthy, and in no pain. I know what you must be feeling because I lost a little one right before we got Desi and the only thing I can say is that time heals all wounds. For me, the best thing I did was go out and get Desi not too long afterwards. It helped me greatly.

| I am sorry to hear of your loss. I hope you do take your breeder up on their offer to have a new puppy. I know right now that seems like a bad idea however having another Yorkie to cherish will help ease the pain of the one you have lost. I know your Chewie is not replaceable and this new puppy is not there to do that. Instead I feel Chewie will be a gaurdian angel over you and your new pup as Chewie wants to only see his Mommy and Daddy happy again with a love only a Yorkie can bring.

| I'm sooooo sorry to hear about Chewie! (Talking about my Maltese here and not my Yorkie) My female Maltese puppy (6 months) has had 4 seizures thus far. I've kept a log of every single seizure that I've seen thus far. Recording things such as duration, date and time, and additional notations such as severity. I've talked to my local pet emergency hopsital already, and have gotten advice on what they can or will do depending on the circumstances. And they said that there is truthfully only so much that they can do (it depends on the situation). Even my best friend, who has had 2 dogs that experienced seizures has told me that only so much can be done. So to some extent, I know what I can expect from the ER... I'm not trying to say that taking them to the ER isn't a good thing. It can be. But at the same time, there can be other factors that occur during a seizure that can cause death. Things such as lungs not getting enough oxygen, thereby oxygen doesn't get to the brain causing permenant if not fatal damage during the seizure. A fatal blood clot. An anyeurism. Etc. My personal suggestion would be to first call up the ER (non-emergency number if they have one) and speak w/ the staff to see what they do in the case of seizures. Ask them what can be done and what can't be done. I love my sweet little girl (my Maltese). It appears that I'm her favorite and I love her to pieces. I've been there for 3 out of her 4 seizures and I don't know what I would do if I lost her. Again...I'm sorry for your loss w/ Chewie. |

| DomLee, Thanks for the kind words. I am so inbetween on the emergency vet thing now. I believe they CAN be good, but in certain situations, aren't. Like if only they had told me it would be best to leave Chewie there instead of waiting out the hour at home to take him to his regular vet. Also, when we first arrived at the ER, she spent a good 15 minutes trying to figure out how to turn the heater on while my baby is in the back suffering. I think it would have been a better experience had there been more professional people working at the time. As I was leaving the hospital, the receptionist (who was incredibly young looking) gave me the business card of "her" vet and told me that he is so good "he can give a full exam with vaccinations in under 6 minutes". Under 6 minutes?? In my opinion, that is not enough time to give a full/thorough exam plus vacc. Anyway, I'm getting sidetracked. Chewie's in a better place with no more seizures, and luckily not all ER vets are the same. I still believe that if your baby is ill at night and you even have the slightest fear that they will not make it until the next morning, don't hesitate to take them to the ER. Just make sure and ask the right questions... On a side note, I took you guy's advice and am getting another puppy. She won't be ready for a few more months, but that will be just enough time for the pain of Chewie's loss to heal. I still have a great deal of pain for Chewie, but can't wait to bring a new furbaby into my home to take care of. It's not the replacing of Chewie, just the replacing of habits like worrying if they're okay while I'm at the grocery store of checking to see if they're asleep at the end of the bed... Oh, YorkieShadow, thank you so much for the pics of Chewie. I have the one of him with the flowers around him set as my wallpaper. Thank all of you so much for your support. Even though I said I wouldn't be back to the site until I got my next baby, I still love coming here and checking in on how everybody is doing. Thanks again guys and sorry for the long post. Jamie |
