| ![]() What is the pre and post biles tested on? Feces or what? Doesn't the veggie diet make the poop REALLY SOFT? I had tried once a veggie food and she got the diarrhea from it. Like people I guess.........veggies do the trick. lol |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | ![]() I was going to ask what the protein count was on the dog food she had been eating. I was told they shouldn't have more than 28% or the liver could become ill. I had switched to Evo which my little girl loved till I saw the count was 42%.

| ![]() you do a 12 hr fast have them pull blood and immediately feed then wait 2 hrs on the dot and then they pull blood again so this tells them how the liver is functioning before and after food but it has to be done accurate 2hrs on dot not a minute later |

| ![]() I had her on Iams since she was born (NO idea what is in that)........then when she started to vomit for no reason in July, I mixed in Eukanuba (pre-biotic-clinically proven). 28% protein........too high I guess. ALways was concerned about getting food for little pups under 1 yr old., never looked at the contents. |

meals and by products means the worst, even rotten type of meat out there. and that food has so many chemicals that is damaging for the kidneys and liver. you can homecook; or get a human grade food; such as the honest kitchen; my dog hasn't vomited since she has been eating the honest kitchen. good luck

| ![]() So where do you buy Honest Kitchen and why is your dog on that (because of the vomiting)? I always figured the MORE expensive foods were the best, but I guess NOT. ![]() |

| ![]() I'm more confused than ever. Everyone has different things that I should try, theres no consistency...... What's really confusing is: she MAY have kidney problems because of the high BUN, or it could be as one said high becaue of dehydration. But then again she has crystals (RED and White blood cells in her urine); She could have colitis, she could have a food allergy, she could could have an intestinal infection, by the time I figure out when in the heck is wrong, I'll be in the poor farm. I should feed her purina ha or I should feed her home remedy, i should give her probiotics; I should give her organic pumpkin; I should give her enzymes. I should have all these additoinal tests done. GOOD GRIEF.........right now I don't know which end is up. ![]() |

I know it is confusing but it is process of elimination as there is no blood test for ibd or colitis and the symptoms your dog is displaying are related to that but the urine is showing issues leading to crystals which is diet related. What kind of water are you giving as i only give whole foods spring 365 - if your dog is having stone issues you may want to give either spring or distilled water - the prob with distilled is some will not drink it due to the taste. ALL YORKIES AND MALTESE should be bile acid tested if having health issues as a maltese and yorkie are 38% more likely to have liver disease and your dog is having health issues and the pre and post bile acid test is only $78 and should be done on any sick yorkie and maltese - it is a one time test and then if 25 or below no worries you know the liver is sound -- many yorkie and maltese owners get this done even if their dog is not sick so it is not out of the question to get this done on these two breeds since it is so prevalent I know you are getting frustrated and over whelmed but you need to gather all the info you are getting and make the best decision for your dog as that is what i do. I am a believer if you are going to do blood work for the kidney soon get the liver checked out too - Vets do the same thing they do process of elimination and since my dog had a bun of that amount and she has NO kidney disease as i KNOW creatinine is the most important for kidney BUT i know urine determines kidney issues as well so the crystals is a concern. Did they do a free catch for urine or did they do need in bladder to get the urine. Most vets take the blood from jugular not the leg as the veins in the legs are very small and collapse and they are not able to get as much blood from them and you want to save those veins for iv's so not really good to use those for just blood work | |
