| ![]() Thank you............she did wake me up yesterday morning at 3:30 am. She was throwing up. I just don't get WHY she throws up so early in the morning when she has been at rest. She doesn't throw up during the day, just VERY early morning usually. |

| ![]() Yes, the thread got very long..........lots of responses and lots of good advise. No, I'm not sure. If you remember, what started all this was her vomiting...everyday for about 5 weeks.......then one day vomiting AND diarrhea......it's been a long road since with being on Flagyl; hamb rice diet; ID and now kidney foods and baytril because of the blood (crystals) in her urine. Diarrhea has subsided (last Baytril will be on the 20th). I have her on Organic pumpkin and DDS plus pro-biotics. Her vomiting had subsided for days and then just yesterday it happened again. I try to feed her before bed, like now she just ate. Her next blood test will be on the 25th to see if her BUN is still high and I'd like to take in another urine sample to see if the crystals are gone. She also has bacterial overgrowth when I had the feces tested. I'm sure this probably all rings a bell now. Sorry for the long sob story., but "we" were getting pretty frustrated. |

Starch is the most important carbohydrate in the human diet and is contained in many staple foods. The major sources of starch intake worldwide are rice, wheat, maize (corn), potatoes and cassava. Widely used prepared foods containing starch are bread, pancakes, cereals, noodles, pasta, porridge and tortilla.[7] Depending on the local climate other starch sources are used for food, such as arrowroot, arracacha, buckwheat, barley, oat, millet, rye, banana, breadfruit, canna, colacasia, katakuri, kudzu, malanga, oca, polynesian arrowroot, sago, sorghum, sweet potato, taro, water chestnut and yams. Chestnuts and edible beans, such as favas, lentils, mung bean and peas, are also rich in starch. The starch industry extracts and refines starches from seeds, roots and tubers, by wet grinding, sieving and drying. Today, the main commercial refined starches are cornstarch, tapioca, wheat and potato starch. To a lesser extent, sources include rice, sweet potato, sago and mung bean. Historically, Florida arrowroot was also commercialized. Still starch is extracted from more than 50 types of plants. Calcium phosphate is the name given to a family of minerals containing calcium ions (Ca2+) together with orthophosphates (PO43-), metaphosphates or pyrophosphates (P2O74-) and occasionally hydrogen or hydroxide ions. It is the principal form of calcium found in bovine milk. Seventy percent of bone is made up of hydroxylapatite, a calcium phosphate mineral. Tooth enamel is also largely calcium phosphate. TBHQ is a highly effective preservative for unsaturated vegetable oils and many edible animal fats. It does not cause discoloration even in the presence of iron, and does not change flavor or odor of the material to which it is added. It can be combined with other preservatives such as butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA). As food additive, its E number is E319, where it is used as a preservative.

| ![]() Cellulose is an organic compound with the formula (C6H10O5)n, a polysaccharide consisting of a linear chain of several hundred to over ten thousand β(1→4) linked D-glucose units. Cellulose is the structural component of the primary cell wall of green plants, many forms of algae and the oomycetes. Some species of bacteria secrete it to form biofilms. Cellulose is the most common organic compound on Earth. About 33 percent of all plant matter is cellulose (the cellulose content of cotton is 90 percent and that of wood is 50 percent). For industrial use, cellulose is mainly obtained from wood pulp and cotton. It is mainly used to produce cardboard and paper; to a smaller extent it is converted into a wide variety of derivative products such as cellophane and rayon. Converting cellulose from energy crops into biofuels such as cellulosic ethanol is under investigation as an alternative fuel source. Some animals, particularly ruminants and termites, can digest cellulose with the help of symbiotic micro-organisms that live in their guts. Humans cannot digest cellulose; it is often referred to as 'dietary fiber' or 'roughage' and acts as a hydrophilic bulking agent for feces. Potassium chloride occurs naturally as sylvite, and it can be extracted from sylvinite. It is also extracted from salt water ... Potassium is vital in the human body and oral potassium chloride is the common means to replenish it, although it can also be diluted and given intravenously ... It can be used as a salt substitute for food, ... Medically it is used in the treatment of hypokalemia and associated conditions, for digitalis poisoning, and as an electrolyte replenisher. vegetable gums (gum arabic, guar gum) All gums are polysaccharides, that is similar to sugars but with many sugar units making up a large molecule. They are bland in taste, odour less and tasteless. They may have a nutritional quality besides the primary function but they certainly help in digestion and may be used as laxatives. | ![]() Choline chloride is an organic compound and a quaternary ammonium salt. Choline chloride is mass produced and is an important additive in feed especially for chicken where it accelerates growth. Methionine is one of the 10-plus essential amino acids that are required by both the cat and dog... Crystalline DL-methionine has become the standard of the petfood industry... Dietary methionine Common petfood ingredients rich in methionine include animal proteins such as meat and poultry and their associated protein meals, egg products, marine proteins such as fish and fish meals, corn co-products such as corn gluten meal and brewers dried yeast. Many diets that contain these ingredients are adequate in methionine and do not require any supplementation. For diets that contain minimal amounts of meat proteins, are heavily weighted to vegetable proteins like soy or are low calorie foods diluted with inert ingredients such as cereals and cellulose, there may be a need for supplemental methionine. (http://www.petfoodindustry.com) Magnesium oxide, or magnesia, is a white solid mineral that occurs naturally as periclase and is a source of magnesium (see also oxide). In medicine, magnesium oxide is used for relief for heartburn and sore stomach, as an antacid, magnesium supplement, and as a short-term laxative. It is also used to improve symptoms of indigestion. Lecithin is regarded as a well-tolerated and non-toxic surfactant. It is approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration for human consumption with the status "Generally Recognized As Safe." Lecithin is an integral part of cell membranes, and can be totally metabolized, so it is virtually non-toxic to humans. Other emulsifiers can only be excreted via the kidneys. Taurine, or 2-aminoethanesulfonic acid, is an organic acid. It is also a major constituent of bile and can be found in the lower intestine and in small amounts in the tissues of many animals, including humans.[1][2] Taurine is a derivative of the sulfur-containing (sulfhydryl) amino acid, cysteine. Taurine is one of the few known naturally occurring sulfonic acids. Zinc sulfate (ZnSO4) is a colorless crystalline, water-soluble chemical compound. The hydrated form, ZnSO4·7H2O, the mineral goslarite, was historically known as "white vitriol" and can be prepared by reacting zinc with aqueous sulfuric acid. It may also be prepared by adding solid zinc to a copper(II) sulfate solution. Zn + CuSO4 → ZnSO4 + CuIt is used to supply zinc in animal feeds, fertilizers, and agricultural sprays. Iron(II) sulfate (Iron(II) sulphate) or ferrous sulfate (ferrous sulphate) is the chemical compound with the formula (FeSO4), known since ancient times as copperas. It is most commonly encountered as the blue-green heptahydrate. ... ferrous sulfate is used to fortify foods and to treat iron-deficiency anemia. Constipation is frequent and uncomfortable side effects associated with the administration of oral iron supplements. Stool softeners often are prescribed to prevent constipation.

| ![]() Manganese supplements are used to prevent or treat manganese deficiency. The body needs manganese for normal growth and health. For patients who are unable to get enough manganese in their regular diet or who have a need for more manganese, manganese supplements may be necessary. Manganese helps your body break down fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. It does so as part of several enzymes. Manganese deficiency has not been reported in humans. Lack of manganese in animals has been found to cause improper formation of bone and cartilage, may decrease the body's ability to use sugar properly, and may cause growth problems. (from www.drugs.com) Niacin, also known as vitamin B3 or nicotinic acid, is a water-soluble vitamin ... Calcium carbonate is a chemical compound with the chemical formula CaCO3. It is a common substance found in rock in all parts of the world, and is the main component of shells of marine organisms, snails, pearls, and eggshells. Calcium carbonate is the active ingredient in agricultural lime, and is usually the principal cause of hard water. It is commonly used medicinally as a calcium supplement or as an antacid, but high consumption can be hazardous. Copper sulfate inhibits growth of bacteria such as E. coli.

| ![]() (calcium pantothenate) Pantothenic acid, also called vitamin B5 (a B vitamin), is a water-soluble vitamin required to sustain life (essential nutrient). Pantothenic acid is needed to form coenzyme-A (CoA), and is critical in the metabolism and synthesis of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. In chemical structure, it is the amide between D-pantoate and beta-alanine. Its name is derived from the Greek pantothen (παντόθεν) meaning "from everywhere" and small quantities of pantothenic acid are found in nearly every food, with high amounts in whole-grain cereals, legumes, eggs, meat, and royal jelly. It is commonly found as its alcohol analog, the provitamin panthenol, and as calcium pantothenate. Thiamine, or thiamin, sometimes called aneurin, is a water-soluble vitamin of the B complex (vitamin B1), whose phosphate derivatives are involved in many cellular processes. The best characterized form is thiamine diphosphate (ThDP), a coenzyme in the catabolism of sugars and amino acids. Some other foods rich in thiamine are oatmeal, flax and Sunflower seeds, brown rice, whole grain rye, asparagus, kale, cauliflower, potatoes, oranges, liver (beef, pork and chicken) and eggs. riboflavin supplement: source of Vitamin B2 pyridoxine hydrochloride: Vitamin B6 Folic acid (also known as vitamin B9[1] or folacin) and folate (the naturally occurring form), as well as pteroyl-L-glutamic acid and pteroyl-L-glutamate, are forms of the water-soluble vitamin B9. Calcium iodate is a trace feed additive and its use in animal nutrition is regulated ... www.eufic.org

| ![]() Biotin, also known as vitamin H or B7, is a water-soluble B-complex vitamin which is composed of an ureido (tetrahydroimidizalone) ring fused with a tetrahydrothiophene ring. A valeric acid substituent is attached to one of the carbon atoms of the tetrahydrothiophene ring. Biotin is a cofactor in the metabolism of fatty acids and leucine, and it plays a role in gluconeogenesis. Sodium selenite is a salt, a colourless solid, and the most common water-soluble selenium compound. It has the formulas Na2SeO3 and Na2SeO3(H2O)5 (CAS#26970-82-1). Respectively, these are the anhydrous salt and its pentahydrate. This hydrated salt is the more common one. The hydrated and anhydrous salts behave identically for most purposes, although their molar masses differ. Because selenium is an essential element, sodium selenite is an ingredient in some food supplements or Vitamins and minerals?
