I know it is confusing but it is process of elimination as there is no blood test for ibd or colitis and the symptoms your dog is displaying are related to that but the urine is showing issues leading to crystals which is diet related. What kind of water are you giving as i only give whole foods spring 365 - if your dog is having stone issues you may want to give either spring or distilled water - the prob with distilled is some will not drink it due to the taste.
ALL YORKIES AND MALTESE should be bile acid tested if having health issues as a maltese and yorkie are 38% more likely to have liver disease and your dog is having health issues and the pre and post bile acid test is only $78 and should be done on any sick yorkie and maltese - it is a one time test and then if 25 or below no worries you know the liver is sound -- many yorkie and maltese owners get this done even if their dog is not sick so it is not out of the question to get this done on these two breeds since it is so prevalent
I know you are getting frustrated and over whelmed but you need to gather all the info you are getting and make the best decision for your dog as that is what i do. I am a believer if you are going to do blood work for the kidney soon get the liver checked out too - Vets do the same thing they do process of elimination and since my dog had a bun of that amount and she has NO kidney disease as i KNOW creatinine is the most important for kidney BUT i know urine determines kidney issues as well so the crystals is a concern. Did they do a free catch for urine or did they do need in bladder to get the urine.
Most vets take the blood from jugular not the leg as the veins in the legs are very small and collapse and they are not able to get as much blood from them and you want to save those veins for iv's so not really good to use those for just blood work |
i totally agree; i displayed the honest kitchen ingredients as an example that it has good ingredients; compared to purina
it is overwhelming and a process; just gather the best info u can get and u will know the best for ur dog and what to give; best of luck
