what nsaid did they use metacam, rimadyl? as those can cause a prob with the kidneys and may be why the concern? just trying to understand more of what is happening but nsaids can affect the liver and kidneys so you have to be really careful with those drugs and i avoid them after my dog was so sick on metacam due to her being on temarilp and vet gave on empty stomach so both were a huge no no and i knew it and asked for tramadol when she hurt her leg but the vet would not listen to me and pressured me into metacam and it was a 2 month nightmare and actually still dealing with it as she has bouts of colitis from time to time still and it has been since february so needless to say we will not be going back to him

Just wondering if this baby has been tested for Coccidia also? Sometimes Giardia and Coccidia can cause similar symptoms and are not properly treated. Has she been on any Albon at all? Just a thought. Hoping she turns the corner soon and is on the mend for you. I know it can be very frustrating. Best of luck to her and you on a quick recovery.

No she was not tested for that. All the report says is: Flotation is checked and it says: Negative for parasites; Bacterial overgrowth present. RX: Flagyl 25mg. Recheck Liver/Kidney panel in 2 weeks.

Started throwing up again. I fed her first before giving her the Flagyl, but she still threw up. Now I don't know if she threw that up or her food. Guess I'll see tomorrow by looking at the poo, because without the Flagyl she goes liquid. Collected another urine sample last nite as the 1st one the clinic courier didn't pick it up and it was then contaminated from sitting out doors all night/morning. NICE......ticks me off. Took over 3 hrs to collect it. Had to lock her in the kennel with just a litter box. Did NOT want a catheter put in so had to do it my way. We're both exhausted. She still gets me up a couple times during the nite. I get up for work at 5:50 and that's when I'm getting back to bed. I feel so bad for her........I hope in ten days this will all be over. Thanks for all your input. Frustrated in Wisconsin......

I got the sample as I just locked her in the kennel with only the litter box. That's a good idea though, I could have tried that, but the litter box worked slick too, then I just poured it in the specimen bottle. Vet's office called tonite (left message as I was not home), got results but will discuss tomorrow. Great.......I would think if it was negative, she just would have left that message on my ans. machine. Guess I'll know more tomorrow.

Ok, here goes. No urinary trac infection but............red and white cells present in urine. The report says the TURB is 1+; PH is 7.0; muscus=trace. everything else is normal, none seen or negative. The bottom of the report says: Triple phosphate crystals present; calcium oxalate crystals present. They took her off of Flagyl; I am to start the NEW med in two days (Batryl). I get more frustrated each day.

Thank you. I will definitely research that, plus a few other things. I'm not convinced they are prescribing the correct things.
