| Lady's had HGE three times so I know how scary it is. I am so glad that Winston is doing better! Next time he has any similar symptoms, make sure they do a CBC right in the office. It only takes couple of minutes and will tell the vet what his red blood count/packed volume is. Anything over 60 is HGE. There is absolutely no reason to wait days for test results. HGE makes the blood thicken and they can die within hours. The key to survival is rapid intervention with IV therapy. |

| Donating YT 30K Club Member | So glad he is doing better and you got a diagnosis. When Cali had it besides the bloody stool and vomiting, she had the saddest look ever on her face. I could see the whites below her eyes. A few weeks later she had no other symptoms but had that look, I took her in and when they took her temp the thermometer came out bloody. My vet looked at me and said good thing you brought her in. They hydrated her gave her some meds and she was much better the next day. So just watch for any signs of him not feeling well and contact the vet. I will keep him in my prayers.

| Thanks again to each and every one of you. Winston had another good day today, he's eating, drinking and his stools are looking more normal. Yes, Patti even the look in his eyes is brighter. He has yet another appointment tomorrow in Peoria with his Internist. Once she thinks he's over this she wants to start him on Phenobarb for his seizures, with constant monitoring of his liver function. I imagine she'll run more test, just to be sure all is well and that he is recovering as he should. Both vets are puzzled by his seizures, as his blood sugar is always low when they occur. Most of the time he eats very well, numerous times daily, so why would an 8 pound Yorkie continue to have hypoglycemia at 5 years old??? Anyway, I guess he'll be starting on Phenobarb pretty soon, any suggestions or thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. If it controls or better yet stops his seizures and does no harm, I am willing to give it a try. This happens on an average of once a month, sometimes more often, sometimes he's gone 3 months without one. Oh well, one thing at a time, and right now I just want him to continue to improve and pray he does not have a relapse. Again, thank you all so much for caring...
