| It's HGE. But Winston has improved immensely, thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your thoughts, prayers and concern...you guys are the best, reading all the posts has me in tears. We spent Thursday night in the ER with him getting tests and IV treatment. Then Saturday morning he was sent to his Internist in Peoria...more tests. He is now eating much better, no more bloody poops and finally, today an actual formed stool...yea!!! His abdominal series, x-rays really didn't show anything, some gas and a little bloat. There is no damage to his kidneys or liver, but those tests will be repeated in the near future. At first pancreatitis was suspected, but his blood test showed only a mild elevation in Amylase, which she said was normal with HGE. His calcium, phosphorus, platelets & electrolytes were slightly low, these have all improved. WBC, PCV, RBC, Amylase & Lipase were slightly high, these too have gotten better. Fecal exam for parasites was negative, obviously positive for blood. I have been driving back and forth to Peoria and am now on a first name basis with his Internist, when we were not there, we were in constant contact by phone. She's done an amazing job with him as I was stubborn and didn't want to leave him there...I know...I should have listened to her, but she wouldn't release him until he was stable enough to come home. Of course she has reason to be concerned about his seizures...his blood sugar originally was low, I think 50 something...the IV treatment got that up quickly but it dropped again, then he had a seizure and puked again. These past few days were like a blur, I was going through all the motions, doing what I had to for him, but seemed to lose track of time...it's weird. But all in all, I'm hoping he is now on the road to recovery. He has another appointment to see her on Friday with instructions to bring him in anytime if his condition worsens. He is now fast asleep on daddy's lap, he seems happy and content for now. My next hurdle is starting him on Phenobarb for his seizures...she is not totally convinced that it's low blood sugar causing them as we have always suspected. He's lost some weight, but he had some to lose as he's none to thin...my porky yorkie. Again my heartfelt thanks and apologies for keeping you all wondering about him, I just really haven't had any time to update until now...but thank God and YT prayers that it is good news, I know it could have been much worse. Bless you all and keep you and yours safe.

| thanks so much for updating us and glad they got a diagnosis that is great - i knew once blood work was done it would spell it all out - yeah you do not want to mess with hge and once they have it - it is easy to get again but the good news is you know what to look for if it happens again. So glad you rushed him in as this is not one you want to wait on as can be deadly. My family lives in peoria - my mom is from there nice place to live |

| Kathy I am so glad Winston is doing so much better now, best of all he is home and in your arms again. I know when Wicket was so sick and had to stay at the vets for several days the fear that run through your mind is awful. have a good night and I will check back in tomorrow.
