| Sounds like HGE to me. Toby was just hospitalized on July 5th for the HGE......I had never heard of it before but he was knocking on death's door with low sugar, bloody diahrea, and the only way to get him better was to have him stay in the hospital for almost 24 hours with an IV to rehydrate and give antibiotics and anti-diahrea meds and he has been on the same meds for 10 days now.......took his last pills this morning and he is feeling a whole lot better. There were two other dogs in the hospital at the same time as Toby with the HGE; yet they say it is not contagious. If I had recognized the signs earlier, he might not have had to stay in the hosptial but only given meds. All I know is he threw up on Thursday morning but ate his supper, would not eat breakfast on Friday and had bloody diahrea; ate his breakfast and supper on Sat. but Sunday morning had another episode of bloody diahrea and that is when we rushed him to the hospital. But I have no idea how he contracted it as all the fluffs are fed, pottied and given the same treats. Everything I have read on the internet says the "cause is unknown." If this is what Winston has, they need to treat him aggressively with IVs. Hope that you get good results back and that he is doing better. Will be watching for an update.
