| ![]() No experience, just well wishes for little Uni! I know this must be hard. I am glad you are getting so much first hand knowledge here. It will probably be mind boggling reading each experience and then deciding on a course for Uni. I can tell by reading your concern, you will do whatever you determine best for you pup! I did not read through all of the responses, but if no one has mentioned, I would look into the interest free care card to help make payments on the surgery if you go that route. Maybe your vet will accept payments. I would also let the breeder know if you have not already done so. She needs to know that pairing of dogs are throwing LP pups. I wish you well with this and pray for you both!

| ![]() I just wanted to send you and Uni some XOXOXO's. I have not had any LP experience but what I have read, I know you will do whatever is necessary and in her best interest- whether its surgery or not. Good luck and keep us updated!

| ![]() Oh no! I just got to this thread, so sorry for the delayed response. I'm so sorry that Uni and you are going through this. I hope she doesn't need to have the surgery, and that she makes a miraculous recovery! I'm glad she's still chipper! I hope the bf knows she's your little baby, and you always have to take the best of care for your little one. If he needs some more convincing, you could always send him this way. ![]()

| ![]() Sadie will be 6 years old in November. I would definitely recommend getting a second opinion by an ortho surgeon. He gave me a low estimate of $2400 and a high estimate of $3000 for both knees. In the end I paid around $2100 for all of her meds, surgery and the 24 hour nursing care while she was at the hospital. It ended up being cheaper due to the surgeon letting me bring her home a day early. Her stitches come out Monday and i can't wait to get this cone off her little head! Please feel free to PM me with any specific questions and I will continue to check the thread as well. |

| ![]() While it seems to be common to let the grade 3's go without surgery, it is not generally recommended to do that. Medial Luxating Patella - VeterinaryPartner.com - a VIN company! And while LP is not considered a painful condition unless arthritis sets in, in my opinion, limping indicates that there could be pain involved. Dogs tend to hide it very well. I would seriously consider surgery in this case.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() Oh, I'm so sorry to read about Uni; she's just the sweetest little dog and so smart. I just have to tell you how I feel about the jumping; I know dogs love to do this, but I think Yorkies should come with a warning sticker, "DO NOT ALLOW TO JUMP!" We have steps by the bed and couch, and if Joey jumps off the couch, he has to go right back on it, and use the steps. This really works; he's only jumped twice since we started doing this over a year ago, and he use to jump 10 or more times a day. Joey had one bad jump as a pup, and I got serious about training him to use the steps. Even with the best of surgeries, it can be redamaged if she's jumping. I know you are so good with training, and you can teach her not to jump. I know you have had a lot of financial setbacks this year, and you always have such a wonderful attitude; I'm praying this won't get you down either, and hope you can find the best treatment for Uni.
