Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh, my gosh - I am so sorry!! How terrifying! I'm sending good thoughts Uma's way and will think of her throughout the day. Hopefully, they can give her an antiepileptic via IV right away. Is this the first time ever she's had these? Is she a puppy? Did they start from low blood sugar or anything? My heart really goes out to you, seizures really are scary to see . Lots of hugs.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh, how scary. As with humans, there really should be no reason they shouldn't be able to get these under control via meds. Then, it'd be a matter of probably keeping her on meds for life to control her seizure threshold ongoing. I am so sorry you're going through this!

| We will pray for her. Our Pom has seizures too and we hold her so close when this happens. She is 16 years old. I am sure they will do everthing for your baby. She and you will be in our thoughts and prayers today. |

| Thank-you. We should know something in a few hours according to the vet. Uma didn't respond to the valium shot and the seizures were coming every 30 secs.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | They *are* trying meds other than valium aren't they? Valium is more of an adjunct therapy in terms of anti-epileptics; I mean, it can work - but when it doesn't, they need to move ON. There are other specific meds they should be using! I hope they have these available to them. If not, they should be getting them from an outside pharmacy asap.

| Yes, they are giving phenobarbital? I just read on here that the kind of seizing Uma is experiencing is not good at all. I just hope they can stop them.

| Umas' seizures involve a bowing of her back until her little rump almost touches her little head. There is no shaking. Her paws draw up behind her head and her bladder and bowels void. It is very scary, for her and me.

| Just spoke to the Vet. Uma has had one more seizure, and they want tokeep her a few more hours. Sounds like they have slowed down.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I am so relieved to read this. Very good that she is getting phenobarb. in addition to the valium. Wish I could give you a big hug. I too would be going out of my mind with worry. I hope they can find the right balance of meds to keep these under control. Does your vet know of a neurologist you can consult with for continuing care?

| How terrible! I'll send prayers that she will not have to be put down, and that she makes a complete and final recovery!
