| Thanks to everyone who wished both Princess and I well. I am fine, but I wish I could take all the pain poor Princess had to take. Well, last night she seemed to be doing fine-she went to the bathroom and ate normally. Everyhting is still normal this morning-she goes to the bathroom again fine. Well, we get back inside and she started to dry heave, then throw up. I immediately called the vet and rushed her back down there. They did so many tests on her and took some x-rays. She had a 105 fever. All tests turned out fine. Her x-rays showed a little bit of congestion and too much air in her lungs. Possibly a little bruise on her lung. They then gave her a shot to help the fever, some antibiotics and loaded her up with intravenous fluids. Now, it is 8 hours later and she has not thrown up and actually seems to be doing a little better. Nothing like she looked this morning. I have been giving her pedialite too to help with fluid intake. This whole ordeal has been so awful. If there were not wet leaves on the deck this all would not of happend. The vet did say that she was probably harboring the virus before the fall and because of the stress of the fall her immune system was low. I just hope and pray that my little Princess gets a lot better!!! |

| Glad things are working out! Isn't it funny how you took her to the vet for a fall and ended up having her treated for an infection! Who knows what might have happened had it not been for that fall, she might have gotten sicker!

| Thanks again for everyone making me fell better. Princess seemed like she was dry heaving last night. It kept on getting worse and worse. So, for the 3rd time in one daym, we rushed her back to another animal emergency hospital 45 mon. away (we live in Blowing Rock, NC-mountains). The vet was amazing. I explained the past 48 hrs and she knew exactly what it was right then. After to listening to me she said "is this the noise" while she touched Princess' throat and Princess started making the dry heaving noise. It was not dry heaving-it was a bad cough. She said to keep her on the antibiotics and then she gave us cough medicine for her. What a relief!! I know this sounds bad, but I was so happy to finally know what was causing her this illness. My finace and I were driving ourselves nuts trying to find out what was the problem. The vet said that the fall might of caused her to injure her trachea a little to cause this cough. I have had dogs when I was younger, but this is my first dog that my fiance and I have on our own. I am so protective of her. Hopefully she will shake this cough/cold soon! Sophiedog-you are right, it is funny how things happen the way they do sometimes! Thanks again! |

| I hope both are you are feeling better, I had an experience with Gucci over the winter, she fell off my couch about a 4ft drop unto the ceramic tiles, she was laying with her body flat and her legs raised and stiff. I thought that she died, I got the scare of my life. I rushed her to the nearest vets office and she still was stiff but had her little eyes open all the way. Thank God, she was ok , I guess she banged her little head hard and went into some sort of shock. I had to give her pain meds and watch her for a few days. She was fine, so I hope this relieves your fear. Just watch her. |

| Well, my Mocha took a 15 ft fall off a ledge on my driveway and probably should have died right then and there but she turned out fine... Not a bruise or a scratch on her

| Chloe' A similar thing happened to me just last night!!! Chloe's such a wiggle worm and somehow got out of my arms and fell...she screamed out and it was sooo awful...I felt totally sick and hysterical as I rushed her to the vets...she said she was more scared than anything and would probably be sore for a while and put her on anti-inflamatory/pain killers. I'm sure the vet knows if something were wrong...although I'm with you and feel like maybe she's got more damage I don't know about but I'm sure it's just us being protective mommies...just keep a close eye on her and in a couple days if she isn't progressing then take her back in but I'm sure that she'll be okay...good luck! |

| Oh yes!!! When I first got my little guy - we were in the kitchen, and he got his hind feet against my chest and pushed himself right out of my arms. He fell at least 5 feet and slid up against the refrigerator. It scared me to death. He slowly got up and went to his bed a few feet away. It scared him too - and I'm sure it must have hurt him. I picked him up immediately and made sure he could walk, etc. After a few minutes - he appeared to be none the worse. Of course, I kept a close eye on him all evening. I still feel very lucky that he didn't break any bones. Now when I carry him, I actually hold tightly onto one of his front legs. ***** He is still a total wiggleworm and has no fear. He jumped off the dining room table tonight (he was up there eating his treat so that he wouldn't steal the treat my other dog was eating). I was right there beside him, had turned around for only a second to see if the other dog was finished, and he jumped before I even knew he was going to do it. The other day, he sailed off the back of the davenport (over the part where we sit) out onto the middle of the floor. This was at least a 7 or 8 foot flight for him --onto a soft carpet, thank God! My pup isn't real tiny. He's 5 months old and probably weighs 6 1/2 pounds, but nevertheless his antics scare me. He is a climber and a jumper. It's not that I don't watch him. I am sure that I have stopped him from doing 99% of the things he has thought about doing. Sorry about your fall. And, I know how frightened you must have been. I was too. Carol Jean |

| When Starsky was a puppy I tripped on the back porch stairs going into the house while carrying him. I dropped him right on the metal part where the door opens and closes and he hit his head pretty hard. I was so worry and he acted pretty normal. One time he was running around my yard so fast, paying more attention to my other dog that he ran smack into the metal leg of the trampoline. Boy I think he saw stars on that one. So my point is they can take a licking and keep on ticking, so to speak. I hope all gets better with you and Princess real soon. Then the sad thing will be dealing with the vet bill. BUMMER!! Starsky sends lots a love
