| no its not thats the recommended age for all dogs i have never heard any different until now thats what vets recommend here in va and i will always go by that to make sure the pup is protected, im not taking chances. puppies can get parvo earlier then 10 weeks, most puppies are done with vaccines at 12 weeks 6 weeks vaccine 9 weeks vaccine 12 weeks vaccine 4-6 months rabies |

| I agree, twelve weeks is plenty early for a small dog. They need some growth to make sure they can withstand some of the rigors of a new owner. Who knows how the owner and puppy will get along? Some owners may be better than others at keeping a smaller dog safe. Lucy, my Golden, did not need nearly as much watching as Annie my six pound pommie when she came home. Callie, and the gang. |

Yorkie Yakker | god everybody stop arguing. all puppies are different. some can get their shots at 6-8 weeks and some can get them later. my breeder didn't give them any shots or anything becasue her vet doesn't do them until them are 8 weeks old. She goes in tommorrow for her first set. |

Yorkie Yakker | i dont think 8 weeks are to early. some breeders dont like keeping their pups past 8 weeks. that doesn't give the pup alot of bonding experience with their new owners. I think it should be the new owners doing their first set not the breeders |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | They have the rest of there lives to bond With there new owners, keeping the pup for a few more week's will Allow the puppy to Have a Better temperment as an adult. If the breeder will not keep the puppy Past 8 week's i would not buy from them. |

| i hate to say it but it is people like this that make wrong decisions that the poor puppies and new owners have to deal with. I thought about breeding and read up on in (even in the breeders thread here) and came to realize it really is not worth it. If i had the time and money i maybe would. But from what I read you have to have your dog tested for breeding and do an entire family background check to make sure there aren't any underlying medical issues. At 20 I could not even imagine trying to take on breeding. Especially if I couldn't even afford a vet checkup and shots. Come on, you should know better. Do some research on it and wake up. Also, you better NOT breed the two dogs together, that are related!
