I am getting a silky terrier Okay so I brea my five yr ol silky terrier with a two yr old silky terrier. The puppies are seveven weeks and they will be eight weeks next week. Now the breeder is sending them to their new home when they tunr six weeks. Is that to early? Can health problems occur if they are sent home at eight weeks? |

That being said, I think puppies at any age can come upon health problems especially if they have pre-existing problems already. On average, 8 weeks is a safe age to go to their new homes as long as they're not too tiny, eat well, play well. The preference for 10-12 weeks over 8 has more to do with puppy and litter/mom socialization especially when we're not referring to the smaller pups who has other things to worry about like hypoglycemia. If the breeder is already sending them home at 6 weeks, were the pups force weened much earlier on? I do hope the pups were doing good on solid foods before the breeder considers sending them off. :( |
the pups aren't fully weened yet. they tunr 8 weeks next monday. she is a chunky little girl she weighs just over three lbs |
They shouldn't come home til at least 12 week's. |
can i ask why? |

thanks but i dont think the breeder will keep the puppies that long. |
Then i would not get a puppy from this person, they are not a responsible reputable breeder. |

but if you must, I say you should get her checked up at vet just so you know she is healthy. |
i did a pick of the litter so i have to get this puppy i didn't pay for her. I am taking her to the vet but not for a full check up just her first set of shots |
She should get a Full check up. |
I dont have the money to do a full check up |

I think it would be best for puppy to be placed in a home who can afford routine veterinary care. If you can't afford to take care of him properly...it's really not a good time to accept the responsibility. |
