| WOW, everyones has some great shots, I don't! I just realized I work to make sure I don't have any shadows,  bummerAnyway everyone has seem this but it's all I have right now will work some some more this weekend. | The other night is was foggy out so I went out and got some pictures to go w/ our shadow theme  DSC_1559.JPG DSC_1523.JPG I'm terrible about not wanting to use a tripod... I used one for the fog and not for the frog so the frog is a tad blurred.

And I agree. The frog shot is a hoot! Who knew a frog could cast such a long shadow! Cha Cha, I'm no fireworks expert, so I googled and found this link. It recommends a tripod, a multiple second shutter speed and an aperature of F-8 to F-16. I've had OK results hand held, but mine are always a little blurry. I may try some of these tips myself. I have no pointers, I have terrible luck w/ moon pics. I always end up with a reflection of sorts when I try to get moon shots... I think my UV filter is causing it so I'll try again with the next full moon.

It looks a little soft, but it may be the low-res reproduction here. Were you shooting with a telephoto or optical zoom? Just trying to see if you may have cropped it and blown it up AFTER you got it on your computer. That can soften it. Another thing I noticed with moon shots is that if I just crank my manual focus all the way to infinity, it goes slightly out of focus. If I back it off just a little bit, I can see more detail in the moon. But as I said, I'm no moon expert! Here's one I got a while back, and a second photoshop trick.  Oh, one more thing. If you shoot long exposures when there are streetlights in the area, it can throw off the color and give you a reddish background.
