Photo theme weeks

My daughter wanted some "non-typical" wedding shots...............here is one that I kind of liked.

We have an active little-dog group that meets Saturdays and Sundays at a local ballpark. You can't help but get some good shots with all the activity going on. I literally shoot hundreds of shots each time we meet and pare them down to about 25 that I post on our Facebook group page.

My favorite subject by far is Iggy, an Italian greyhound. She is lean as a gazelle, fast as lightening and always has a zany expression on her face.

In the summertime, I typically just set my camera on the sports setting and snap away. Easy as shooting ducks in a pond.

The last shot isn't action, but I felt I owed it to Iggy to show her true personality. She is sweet and loving and adores her mama.

Well, this is Deemer taken in January. Too hot to do anything now! He is kind of a mess, but boy was he having fun!

On a side note, think I am going to have to send my camera in for repair, couldn't use the sports setting and get shots like that right now no matter what I did. My auto focus is being really hit and miss for some reason. Never seems to hold the focus on what I am focusing on

I had the same autofocus problem with my last camera, which I abused for about 7 years. Bought a new one, and was delighted that autofocus returned! It's frustrating trying to shoot action when it's not working. I can't imagine how photographers did it before autofocus!

I would be happy to buy a new one, but my husband wouldn't be too happy about it. LOL
Actually this one isn't even a year old.......so still under warranty for three more months. Need to just send it in before the warranty expires.

Mike these are awesome shots! I have to try your sports setting trick...i usually try to do it in manual or aperture priority settings, but you get awesome shots!! Love the hair shot!! So very sweet!!

Manual or aperature priority are definitely the professional way to do it, but I find sports setting is a no-brainer that I can do quickly

I have been playing in the Ge thread and now I need to catch up here.

Alaskayorkie, Sbyork and JMuedog, your vacation sight seeing pictures are amazing. I really enjoyed the NYC skyline and buildings. I hope to be able to visit NYC some day.

rentfrog, that is so neat you took the wedding pictures. You captured some great moments!

Sbyork, your Deemer is beautiful!

I did take a trip to Texas, but we spent our time with family and didn't get out to see much so I missed my photo oportunity. Let's face it, there just is not a lot to see in Kansas. If you visited Kansas right now, mostly what you would see is wheat. So I am sharing a pic of the wheat I took tonight. I thought it turned out pretty neat.

And this is one of my favorite action shots of Moka. Action is one of my worst enemies. I am still trying to figure it out.

I love that wheat/sunset photo! Gorgeous! lol the stick in Moka's mouth is way bigger than she is how cute!

I agree with Jenni! Love those shots. Was that natural lighting on the wheat itself? Almost looks like fill of some kind -- absolutely perfect, regardless!

Well, I have been considering upgrading and I am about ready. I wanted to learn more about manual on my current camera first, and I have done pretty good. But, my Canon is one of the older first models and they have come a long way since I got it. So, keep talking.......I'm listening....LOL...

I wouldn't even know what you mean by fill, but I have a midtones bar on my editing software. I did darken it to a -14 from a 0. That bar is in addition to contrast, shadows, and midtones that I did not change. Is that what you mean by fill? That is part of my complaint with my current camera. It doesn't seem to matter whether I use manual or automatic, the lighting is always a little off.
