I spit out my food when I read this! I didn't know that they made mango in a can. I only heard of dried mangoes. We have them in abundance here. I love green mangoes with soy sauce (shoyu) and vinegar.

| Anyone who knows me personally...knows I am an accident just waiting to happen. ![]() The worst kitchen accident in memory was years ago. Our youngest son had company the night before and we had take-out pizza. The boys were constantly going back for leftovers through the evening..so I had stuck the pizza still in the takeout box in the oven..well I forgot all about it ![]() The next day I turned the oven on pre-heat when I was cooking supper. It wasn't long till smoke was boiling out of the oven. I opened the oven door and the pizza box burst into flames. Of course I don't do well under pressure and grabbed the fire extinguisher and couldn't figure out how it worked..my 10 year old boy grabbed it out of my hands and put the fire out. If he hadn't been at home..I would have burnt the house down![]() ![]()

| Lol! These are all too funny! When I was a college freshman my mom gave me some soup and I stuck the whole pot in the freezer til I was ready to use it. Then that week I took it out of the freezer and straight onto a hot burner. I was sitting at the table studying when it suddenly EXPLODED, the glass lid on the pot shattered into a billion little glass bits, and it was all over my kitchen, soup and glass, all over me, just..a nightmare. I started crying not because of the mess, but because I REALLY wanted some of mama's soup! ![]() I've also dropped my precious yankee candles on my kitchen and bathroom floors, splattering glass and hot wax EVERYWHERE and god, wax is a nightmare to clean up.

| There was the summer we were on a smoothie kick. Frozen fruit - strawberries, mango, blueberries, pineapple, grapes in blender mixed with just a little apple juice. Delicious! Well, my darling sweet dd ws making them and made one for me. As she was walking to bring it to me she slipped on a pair of my panties (on the floor by the laundry) and here is the result: |

| Put a ham in to bake & the next thing I know my whole oven is on fire, smoke billowing out the edges of the oven door & all over the house, fire alarms all going off all over. Panicked, called "911", firemen came & discovered a clear plastic party serving platter had been stuck in the oven out of the way by some "helpful" soul when I had a lot of people over & I had thought someone had tossed it after the party. I hadn't even seen it when putting my ham in. Boy, that thing sure did catch fire easily & then the fat from the ham started burning & smoking. What a mess! Have company over? CHECK YOUR OVENS before baking afterward!

| This thread is hilarious. My little incident happened because I was a penny pincher when my kids were young, well, I still am, but that's beside the point. I was boning a chicken with a very sharp knife. Somehow I sliced off the top of my finger middle knuckle . It was really a bad cut, and I knew about the chicken/infection issues. Since I had to finish dinner for a hungry family, I ran it under warm water, rinsed it with peroxide, and wrapped it with a paper towel and kept on cooking. Every time the blood started seeping through I'd rinse my finger off again and wrap another paper towel around it. My finger never got infected, but it sure did hurt and it took a long long time for it to heal. |

| I can't think of any hysterical blunders of my own at the moment-last week I did turn the grill on, set the burgers on it, went to flip them 4 minutes later and they were charred like hockey pucks (inch thick, too!) My mom once bake a black walnut cake without shelling the walnuts first. |

| Probably the funniest kitchen mishap I ever had doesn't directly involve food. I was 16, my mom just got remarried to a guy who had an 11 year old and a 9 year old. (ish) His ex wife babied the kids really bad-they didn't pour their own drinks or cut their own food or anything. My room was in the basement, and one saturday morning I woke up about 11am and the oldest is trying to make ravioli out of the can and can't find the can opener so he asked if I had seen it. I said yes, and got it for him. He looked at it, and said "No, that's the one you guys brought over here....Have you seen our can opener? I told him their can opener was rusty and wasn't working well, so mom threw it out last week, and he burst into giant sobs. I'm still half asleep, and was totally surprised, and burst into laughter, which of course made him howl all the harder. He stomped his foot at me and told me I wasn't being nice and, I quote "How would you like it if you had to get used to new things?!" at which point I collapsed on the floor in hysterics. When I caught my breath, I said "I just moved from ohio to michigan, had to leave the friends i've had since kindergarten in the middle of my high school career, to live in a new town where I did not have a bed room for an entire month, (the builders were behind on the 2 bedrooms and bathroom in the basement) sleep on the sofa and be awakened at dawn so you can watch cartoons, and walk 2 flights of stairs to share a bathroom with 3 other people, and you're crying over a CAN OPENER?!" Of course, i know it was more than a can opener, that the can opener was the straw that broke the camel's back....but the whole thing was so surreal. |

This had me in tears when I read it on my phone this morning! Couldn't reply until now. I've never cracked up at someone in distress before, and then laughing more bc the laughing made it worse. Oh I wish that can happen one day!
