Put a ham in to bake & the next thing I know my whole oven is on fire, smoke billowing out the edges of the oven door & all over the house, fire alarms all going off all over. Panicked, called "911", firemen came & discovered a clear plastic party serving platter had been stuck in the oven out of the way by some "helpful" soul when I had a lot of people over & I had thought someone had tossed it after the party. I hadn't even seen it when putting my ham in. Boy, that thing sure did catch fire easily & then the fat from the ham started burning & smoking. What a mess!

Have company over? CHECK YOUR OVENS before baking afterward!
