YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Please Pray for Zoey I've just left Zoey at our vet's office. Sunday we noticed a swelling mid throat. I called Monday to make an appt. I was able to get in Friday this wk. On Monday she was acting fine, eating, drinking, etc. On sunday she was checked all over to see if there was any bite/puncture marks. We didin't see any; but this is a double coated breed and could have easily been missed. This morning, she didn't eat her food, just picked at it. I felt her neck it had to have doubled in size. Plus the side of her mouth was swollen. No temp, her eyes are clear, gums nice and moist and pink. I then found another swelling on her left lateral chest - ipsilateral to the check/facial swelling. I showed up at our vets an hour ago. Dr Jack's partner examined Zoey, she found many swollen lymph nodes, actually all but the axillary nodes. Dr Jack will examine her after he gets out of surgery and he will call me. I'm pretty distraught I didn't even get the female doc's name. Lots of diagnosing to do, but she wants to take some fluid from the neck area and another lymph area. She said well Gail, this doesn't look good, lymphoma is a distinct possibility. Zoey will be four years old in June! Only four years old. Her only health concern was last year she tested positive for heartworms and she did "successfully" I thought pull through the adulticide treatment. I don't know when I'll hear from Dr Jack. I feel sick to my stomach, and held back tears are burning my eyes.

| Oh, this is awful news to hear. Could she have a localized infection and it be a swollen lymph node? Here is hoping it is nothing bad, bad and is easily treated and she is home and happy and healthy in your arms ASAP!

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Thanks all. I've not heard anything yet. Spoke with my trainer-got the name of her oncologist for her dog Una. wouldn't you know - I'll be back at VEC again. If I go there that is. HOlding back tears cause I'm out and about, running errands and had park walks training et al. Okay anyone heard of a systemic infection that would swell all these lymph nodes in 48 hours with no fever, and no loss of appetite until this am? I know I know I'm trying not to panic, I'm not in a full out panic mode yet, I'm in a hurry up and tell me what it is mode, so I can DO SOMETHING. And I just don't know if this lymphoma stuff comes on so so quickly!. No call , no call, no call. I'm going to wait until 1 30 then call office to see if he has seen Zoey.

I'm not sure if this will be of any help or not. You seem like you are on top of where to get the best vet care for your little ones. I will be praying for your little one and you. I hope they can get you some answers for this little one and that it is very treatable whatever it is.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Thanks Gidget. So far most websites i've linked on don't get specific enough with @S+S and differential diagnosis protocols. Interesting you mention the the EBV as I just ran across a reference to that research. Right now, I'm trying to track down the S+D and differential diagnosis protocols. I know as well much for humans - not so much for dogs.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Gidget for example if RAzzle was ddx'd with LS I"d be going to Univ of Tennessee for the surgery. If whatever this is, is serious, I will be screening the best practices - most experienced oncologists, and if necessary take her to where I need to.

| Don't know about canines but before my hip surgery, a left neck lymph node doubled, tripled in size and I had no infection or fever. Went to two dentists(one for second opinion), full x-rays, etc. and two Internists - couldn't find a thing but both said "something will show up down the line in the area of your mouth or ear, face, neck". Cleared for total joint surgery. Two weeks after I came home from surgery, I had tooth that became very sensitive and the specialist that did the root canal said that without doubt that was what had caused my lymph to blow up - that the symptoms or infection was starting up then but just didn't show up on x-ray until all those weeks later. I suppose the lymph system kind of works similarly in canines.

| I'm so sorry she gave you a very alarming diagnosis even before all the tests have been run. Should not have happen! I will pray for you and your little girl. Looks like she's had more than her share of difficulties. I wish I could give you both a warm hug.

| I have had a vet that did that in the past. He always gave me the possible bad news first - I guess so I could start preparing - and then when it turned out not to be bad, there was great relief but if it was bad, I'd had some time to start to deal with it without the full blow of reality. I hated that but in a way, it maybe is gentler to give you some time. Hopefully, your answers after tests are all the most positive they can be. Lots of prayers going Zoey's way - and yours.
