Thanks a lot Bonny. The blood work came back. WBC up, Liver enzymes slightly elevated, thyroid low normal. Dr jack is not too surprised with results; there may be an underlying infection going on, so after work I picked up some antibiotics for her. She is to have four pills a day.

She ate about one cup of her food this evening about 1/2 this am.

Dave will be home 2morrow with her allday. I'm going to ask him to hand feed her several times over the day. See if we can get more food into her.
She is drinking water well.

Thanks I stayed home with her for most of the day, and just taught my afternoon/evening classes so she was only home about 1.5 hrs on her own.

She is panting and drooling a lot. It is because her cheek is so swollen.

Thank goodness! Infection and not cancer - is that the final word??? Oh, if so, that is such wonderful news. Does the vet have any idea what the site of the infection is yet? Hopefully the meds will work wonders and her poor little lymph nodes can resume normal size again. You sounded kind of reserved in your last post - are you still worried about lymphoma? Is there another test out there yet to come back?

Your devotion to your babies is always heartwarming. I hope that Zoey responds quickly to the antibiotics and that you get a diagnosis that can easily be managed and cured. I am so sorry that you and your family are going through this and that your baby is sick. I pray that your fears are eased and that your baby gets well.

Well yes to another test - "fine needle aspiration" and the cytology report. Univ of Guelph pathologist has the fluid, hopefully today maybe late day I get some word on it. Both vets (gp's) took smears and looked at the cell and there are present unusual looking cells that they saw.
Dr Jack thinks there may be a secondary infection going on, so to be on the safe side he prescribed the antibiotics.

Thank you Kristin. I'd love it if they took some of the swelling down!. She was quite uncomfortable yesterday. Dave is staying home with her today. I think I might wash her beard and face, and then I'm going to remove her beard. I'm going to see if I can get her neck shaved-I do have a #40 for my clippers. This way everyone can see more easily around her face/neck head. And less hair, less heat. Poor baby is panting so much. Right now our immediate concern is to make sure her airway stays open.

Thanks Lisa. I'm going to try as well today, to put the special pack on her I had made for Magic. See if the cold pack will bring swelling down in lymph nodes. Plus it might keep her a bit more cool.

Ps: she did like the Reiki and fell off to sleep quite quickly

I'm glad the Reiki helped her sleep more easily last night, and it's so good to hear she has some appetite. I'm praying the antibiotics will take effect soon and make her more comfortable.

Fingers crossed here Jeannie. No word from the vet' but I'm not expecting really to hear anything until the day's end. It depends on when the Univ of Guelph pathologist's get's to it. Dr Jack did say, that if he found something worrisome, he would be on the phone to him pretty promptly.

Just home from work. Hubby had scissored off her beard. I think it is much better this way. But oh dear, now her eyes are free of the hair fall, her eyes are glassy, and bloodshot. This morning before work, they were just a bit red.
Also there is now a hotspot on her back!.

I need to go out shopping for some specialty herbs, and some more fish oil. I've picked up yams (which she loves), and squash (she loves) and bak choy as well.
I think I'll spring for some freshly ground lamb for her. Also see if I can get some fresh alfalfa sprouts.

I have to keep busy.

Lymphoma in dogs

Prognosis is definitely not an easy read. Even with the chemo treatment.

You poor thing. Keep busy as you can spoling her and probably the infection has those eyes bloodshot. I have been told that sick dogs often get bloodshot eyes. When Tibbe had pneumonia, his eyes were bloodshot.

Hi,

Is it possible that with all the pollen flying and heat that we've had over the last couple of days, that she's reacting to that? After all, her poor immune system must be in overdrive trying to fight the infection, the environmental stuff could just be aggravating it all. I noticed my schnauzer's eyes have been a bit redder lately. I'm hoping that cooler temperatures will restore some of the balance. Fingers crossed that you get good news from Guelph!
