Gosh I have such bad memories of my time in CA in 2003. The skies were always amber. the smoke had not where to go because of the smog. You could see there was a sun on the other side but it was all hazed out. my car was always coverd in ash and it was so hard on my asthma.
I feel for everyone there now and hope they can really start to get these fires under control. Prayers and wishes for all those YT in CA!!!

My phone is the Motorola Krazer? - It's the little Razer phone. I was surprized at the quality too.

The fire in Orange County was started by an arson! The fire department new it was intentionally set by the 2nd day - They say the set up was quite elaborate and well planned. They are now looking for a "Vehicle of Interest" so I guess they have a lead. I hope they catch the SOB!

Last I heard the total death so far as they know is 9.

I just can't imagine what the people who lost their homes has to go through. I'm sure it takes time for the insurance to come through. I wonder if you still have to pay the mortgage or do they give you some grace period? If mortgage is still due, and you have to pay for a place to stay... How does anyone get through that financially not to mention emotionally...

I heard they had a lead too. They will get whoever it was, I just hope they find them before someone who lost everything finds them. After they found out it was in fact arson, there's a lot of "people" looking for leads. Either way, when caught by the law or the victims, it's going to be bad.

Yes, you still have to make the payments, but there is help for them, as well as funds for a new place to stay. They are financially hurting even with the help from the State, they still have to replace everything and with many claims it's going to take a long time to get them all. Emotionally some will never recover.
The total death so for is 9, but they also said they are sure there are more

Getting through this is not going to be easy. It will take a lot of Prayers and help from family & friends.

I appreciate all of the YT Californians updating with pictures. I've been watching the news and when I think of all the people who've lost everything and the others who've been displaced, it just breaks my heart.

I'm praying for you all and for the firefighters and others who're trying to help.

Yeah, I know why they couldn't...I just meant from a thinking stand point that it is a hard concept to understand the magnitude of. I'm sitting her looking at my jar candle that is burning...one small flame that I can put out by blowing on it, but it's 'fire' none the less. Small and controlable. And then you have this 'fire'--the very same thing physically tearing things up in California just hard to grasp the concept of something that you know HOW to control--throw water on it--but it's so HUGE, you just can't get it done. Hard to fathom....

As a former mortgage lender, whenever we did a loan, the client had to get homeowner's insurance and name the lender as the loss/payee on the insurance policy. That way if there is destruction to the house, the bank gets paid first.

I sure hope people only have to make the payments for the amount of time it takes for the insurance company to settle with the lender.
