Even though someone may upset me with a post, I try to form as unemotional and tactful a response as I can. If I can't find a way to do that, I don't post. This doesn't leave a whole lot to talk about does it? People are going to have different opinions, we can't avoid all controversy, but we can be civil or try to be civil. IMHO

No - please don't take what I'm saying is that we shouldn't express our opinions. Your posts are great and always valuable. They just aren't nasty.

That's what I'm trying to say. We all have to learn to keep it nice, but we also have to be honest.

I also think breeding is a particularly touchy, but very important part of YT.
A lot of people aren't going to hear what they want to hear there. I do think breeders need to be told not to breed 2 pound females, etc. I think they need to be told in a way that they'll listen to it, and not just get angry because they're being attacked.

For example, I bought Max from a pet store that deals with puppy mills. I don't think I was ever attacked since I've come onto YT because I went the puppy mill way first. I learned the right way to approach buying a dog. I then began pming breeders, posting threads, reading the Breeding forums, and so on and got tremendous help and support in buying Gracie Leigh. I am so grateful for the help and support I got. If I had been attacked, I don't know if I would have stayed on YT and learned all that I did.

most times when someone uses a '!' it's good but when they say something rude and add it at the end it makes it more 'dramatic' and makes it seem like they would be yelling if face to face to you.... But I use them in almost ALL of my post..

This is so true! If some of these things were going on right in front of me in person, I would either not be able to think of something to say or I would be really rude... Typing it out online give you time to think through what you are writing...it's nice

I didn't make some of the best choices early on with Gizmo, and I only felt attacked once (very early on). Most of the users on this site were helpful and understanding. I try to be the same way now. And YOU have always been one of the people I try to emulate in terms of how to word a response. You are very valuable to this site.

just kidding of course haha. I think opinions are a wonderful thing, and we should all be able to share them. However, it IS possible to share your opinions without being rude or condecending (sp) about it. and I think that's what people here tend to forget sometimes.

We all started somewhere. I bought my first yorkie from an ad in the newspaper, my 2nd at the flea market. But, I wanted to learn more about the yorkie breed, joined a Yorkie Club, an All Breed Club, asking questions, going to shows, attending seminars, talking to well established breeders, etc.

exactly...we all start somewhere. and thanks to YT...many of us can learn, learn, and learn some more...i know i would not be where i am today without the wonderful people here on YT. and in a weird way...some of the "rude" comments have helped me learn too. just take it in, think about it, and apply it if you can...ignore the rudeness of it and try to just take the knowledge that was intended to be shared.

Your overusage of exclamation points offends me.

I love Yt too!! I can't even believe how much I've learned from being on this site. It's one of those things that you don't realize until you're giving someone instructions on what to do with their dog, or you're listing facts about dogs or whatever that you sit back and think "Wow. Look what I've learned!"
