Our Blessings R Many Donating Member | Flustered With Cingular-AT&T, Is Anyone Else Sorry to vent my frustrations, I would appreciate getting some feed back from others on the cell phone provider that you have. I am so flustered with the company we have been with for years and am making a change ASAP, started with AT&T then they went Cingular now they are Cingular AT&T I have come to feel like a yo yo with this company and now after years of our being supposedly a valued customer I am told that I have to get a new contract of 2 years and new phone, as the system I am on is phasing out. In my conversation with a rep with the company this morning, I felt like I was trying to communicate with someone that is programmed or that I was trying to communicate with a recording I don't object to having to get a new phone which would cost me, but I dont' feel that I should have to sign a new 2 year contract . We chose our own cell phone number and paid for it, and then this morning was told I may not be able to take it with me to another company I am seriously considering Verizon, but then was at Costco and the young man was encouraging me to go with T-Mobile. I appreciate the technology of the cell phone world only wish that we had been treated with more courtesy with this company. It is a shame that so many companys in various industries have gotten so big and have lost track of the fact that if not for all of us customers they wouldn't have a thriving business, or matter of fact a business at all. Sad to see how times have changed through the years, I guess I go back a long way remembering how it use to be and the courtesy extended to people. Majority of the time these days, it just isn't so. Next time I go into a store and pay for something and I am given the usual "THERE YOU GO." I told Jack I am going to scream that is the courtesy extended in most of the stores here in California upon paying and receiving merchandise, be it grocery store or whichever, I have always extended my reply of "YOUR WELCOME" assureadly not with a Thanks for letting me vent, appreciate feedback on other cell phone providers. | Well... I have had U.S. Cellular for over 6 years and never once had a problem. I've not been anyplace that I haven't had any service. I go with my family on vacation every year and we drive a camper. We all have US Cellular, although they aren't the coolest people with like internet things on your phone (getting better), but other than that service is fantastic! We've been to the middle of nowhere and had service, including Lake Powell in Arizona. So I'm not disappointed. Here is a list of places we've been cause I don't know where you are from. I know my brother has been to New York and such and always had service too. Oklahoma Kansas Missouri Arkansas Texas South Dakota North Dakota Montana Wisconsin Idaho Utah Colorado New Mexico Arizona California Oregon Washington Nevada Nebraska Wyoming

| I have Cingular too & have never had a problem. I haven't heard yet about having to get a new phone. I hope I don't have to because I just got a RAZR last year & love it & can't afford to get another one. Anyway, in all the places I've been I've not had any coverage problems.

| I have cingular. My contract expired back in Oct. and so I just pay month to month now. I'm getting ready to buy a new phone that will pick up in dead spots that the one I have now doesn't. Only one draw back with paying month to month, I have to buy the phone from cingular and at full price. That's ok because I don't want another contract. I can change to something else anytime I want now. |

| I am on T-Mobile - but that is because my daughter is on T-Mobile and we can talk to each other for free - and talking to each other is mostly what we use our minutes. I have been completely satisfied with T-Mobile. I've been on it about 3 years now. At first there were some places where the signal was low, but that has improved greatly over the years. I appreciate the information about U.S. Cellular - I don't care anything about the new fangled gadgets, I just want my phone to work and to be clear! Good luck with your search for a new company.

| Both of my DH's business phones are Cingular and he has had little problems w/ them. There are times/places that it may cut out (but we expect that from any phone really) and there were some charges on his bills when he first got both of them, but those have been taken off and have never been on there again. I am having issues w/ Alltel....aurgh!

| I have T-Mobile and really think it's pretty darn good. Their customer service is better then other plans I had and if the regular customer service person is not helping they transfer you to a supervisor who usually straightens any problem you might have right out. the things I like Best about t-mobile is Price is good, they have family plans or fav 5 plans that are good deals depending what would suit you best. You can change anyservice at any time without a bunch of stuff. you just call and say you want to change your plan and they do it no problem whether it's up or down. they ask you start your time over again but this is no big deal to me as I love them. I found other companies make you pay or upgrade to get this option. They DO have a prefereed customer pricing which they don't admit to but if you WEEDLE enough they give it to you if you have been there awhile. This pricing is even BETTER then regular pricing , which I already think is prety good. I will say if you do a coverage check on thier maps it might scare you , but i found they truly underestimate in most cases and you usuall get 5 bars where they say 3. They also have a TRY IT PLAN which lets you get the phone and if you don't like it they release you from the contract and you don't have to pay ANYTHING except outstanding expenses you made. I also want to say there phone upgrading is one of the best on the market. No big rules or money amounts. Once you have a year under your belt they give you a choice of upgrades. If you have 2 years under your belt you get more choices of free upgrades. They also have a select of upgrades you can get for very little money. back when razors were NEW I got one for $29 as an upgrade when They were going for $300.

| I dumped AT & T before it became Cingular, or right about that time. The customer service was terrible. Then I went to Sprint, got ripped off there. I am now with T Mobile and am very happy.

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | I used to have ATT/Cingular. I didn't like the way things were service wise when they made the switch. So I switched to tmobile. I have to say that it's been awesome. The price is great, service is great where ever I go and the fact that their coverage area is fairly wide helps a ton in savings as far as roaming charges go. I just renewed for the second time and I dont' regret it. The great thing is that you can port your number out and be done with the other company in a jiffy.

| I used to have Cingular. They called me and told me that they were upgrading and my phone that I had would not work, but I could go to a Cingular store and use my credit for a new phone. That was fine. Then they told me I could not have the plan that I had. They said I had to upgrade to a pricier plan. I did not use my cell phone much and did not want to upgrade the plan. I told them I would think about it. Well, I went right down to the Sprint store and they gave me a new phone and a better plan for the same price that I had with Cingular. I got a new phone with Sprint and they used my Cingular telephone number. I was home for about 1 hour when I received a call from Cingular (they knew because my number was transferred from them to Sprint). They asked me why I switched from them to Sprint. I told them I did it because they did not offer the same plan as what I had and I did not want a higher priced plan. They told me they had the same plan as I had with more minutes and they did not know why I was told they did not have this plan!! They also told me that I had, I believe, 48 hours to cancel Sprint and go back to them. I decided not to go back and have been very happy with Sprint.

I wasn't offered any credit at all, and was basically told the same thing as you were, but that I would have to sign up for another two years and I would have to buy a new phone. They said I could not go month to month, it was either a new 2 year contract and new phone ( my phone that I have now will not work with their system any longer) I was not able to keep the minutes plan that I had needless to say with all the frustration with them this morning, I decided to "time myself out" I didn't go into the city and check on a different provider but definately will be signing up elsewhere in the morning. I really appreciate all your inputs, thank you. Since our kids and also my sister are with Verizon, we may just go that route as the minutes would not be counted against us. I am one that really don't like making changes but in this instance I know it is definately for the best due to what has transpired with them. Once again thank you all for your input. Patti | |

| I had Cingular for about 5 or so years (they were first Comcast, then Cellular One, then Cingular). Tons of dropped calls, and crappy reception. I finally went with Verizon almost two years ago, and will NEVER go with anyone else. Verizon may not have the best "deals," but they have the best service. I remember I was on the phone with a Cingular rep right before I was going to get rid of my service. She said, "But we offer rollover minutes, Verizon doesn't." I said, "What good is having all those extra minutes when I can never talk to anyone cuz they are always dropped?!?!" She didn't say anything! LOLOL Plus, when I had Cingular, my mom actually told me NOT to call her on my cell anymore, b/c she was tired of saying, "I can't hear you...I can't hear you."

| I have Cingular (the new AT&T) ... but I rarely use the phone ... I have like 3600 rollover minutes, (if not more). But it did come in handy today when I was at FedEx and had to call a vendor to get his FedEx account number ... I never heard of HAVING to get a new phone that you have to pay for. Now, if they give you one for FREE ... thatz the way to go. I have had Cingular for quite a while but this last contract was initiated in 9/2003, so I am month to month billing as well ... I hope my phone is not going to get phased out. Whatz the new stuff we need? My daughter has T-Mobile and raves about their customer service ...she has a great plan though ... 1000 minutes for 39.99 ... shez a long time customer.
