I designed my own by using a webhost (i think thats what its called) that had easy to learn templates, but I do all the designing and graphics using photoshop. My husband is the one that did the research for finding a good webhost by going onto google and learning whatever he could about that sort of stuff. He does all the really technical stuff and I get to do all the fun stuff which is the setup and designing. Ive set up 2 websites using 2 different host and I am about to start a 3rd. Its really fun once you figure it out and get the hang of it but its definetly challenging

| I make websites using frontpage. I love it, I started doing it so my family could see my kids, but then I started doing it for some extra income so I could stay home and see my kids (just for friends and family, no major businesses or anything)If you want to do your own on frontpage, I can help you out. Give you some tips, but I think the web hosting Shanatink is talking about is supposed to be good to. Good luck!

| mine Here is who I am going to get to do mine. www.coonDawgs.com. They do all kinds for personal and for business. They have several examples of their work to look at. They are really good. I think it is the cheapest I have ever seen and you will be amazed at their work. You won't be able to believe it until you go ahead and look around the site at their templates and work. it is 75. then 25. per year. When you do updates, it is 5. a page. You have up to five pages of anything you want. They host it and it shows up on Google. I mentioned this once before on here and kind of got blasted just a tiney, tiny bit that it couldn't be much for that kind of money. Well, go see for yourself. |

| I have a husband that is jack of all trades and very talented so he designed my website for free. I guess you might say he is my very own personal secretary . I have told him that maybe he should go into business doing this on the side but he says if it will keep him from playing golf, forget it |

| I know I'm going to sound pretty dumb when it comes to this, but I've got to ask: Is web hosting the place who puts it on the web? I've seen that some are free...why do people pay for it if it's free? Is FrontPage the program for getting it on the web? Is it easy to use and understand? I would like to have a web page in the future, but would rather learn to do it myself. Any tips on where to learn?

| I taught myself Frontpage by using the templates (just go to file - new - and pick one of the wizards, just like in Word) And if I didn't understand something I really just used the "help". Those things are really easy to self teach now, if you can use Word I am telling you you can use Frontpage! The problem I had, and Yorkie3 you would have to do some research, but actually getting it from my computer onto the web. I did try to go for a "free" one, but I had more photos then it would allow and some free ones don't accept FrontPage extensions.(extensions are essentially their files - Word has .DOC and Paint had .BMP and so on) so, you need a server that accepts their extensions (files). The one I ended up going with is cheep and they do have a free one (BTW...they can make it free by putting adds and pops ups on your website, an advertising thing). So just look around for the price range you want, if you are interested, I went with www.0catch.com and I have been with them for over a year and never had a problem. If you have any more questions I would be more then happy to answer them! I hope that helped

Webhost that are free have NO features whatsoever. Like the "cart feature" so people can purchase items, this can be a very expensive feature when you want to purchase it on its on. Or website templates, search engine features, website statistics (track info),etc... PLus alot of webhost that are free really come with some sort of price or requirements, for instance they may require you to have an ad for their services on your webpage, they also tend to have lots of pop ups, limitations to photos, etc . If you are just having a page for fun this is all fine.

| I do know you or at least I think I know that you need some kind of FTP (such as CuteFTP) program to manage the site and to get it to the web, is that right? And FrontPage is the program to make the site? What if I want a couple pages or more? How much space does one need? With my Internet provider comes 5 MB of space for a web site. Is that very much? I'm a real dummy when it comes to the space needed. Will I need more and how do I figure the space needed? Didn't know I would come back with so many questions, huh? I'm just really interested in getting one set up in the near future.

| I use Godaddy for my hosting. I design my own website, using some of there templates, customizing them some. They also have a shopping cart option. Their shopping cart is a little pricey. OS commerce is a free shopping cart but you would have to customize it. Since its a freeware you run the risk of securty holes. But it is a great program. The shopping cart from godaddy is easy to use, it has templates and colors to choose from. They have packages that start small and can grow with you. I can say that I have used the tech support a few times and found them to be very helpful. There are a lot of options out there. I have heard good things said about Yahoo web hosting, but I have not used them. Hope I helped a little. |
