| Boy would I love to have let them see my 12lb Sophie! They would have really been shocked. I have had so many people say rude things about Sophie's size. I just don't get it. If you want a tiny thats fine but for those who don't why do people have to be so critical. Sophie is still a small dog that we take every where and she is very beautiful.

| It's people like that who, in my honest opinion, did NOT research the breed before purchasing their furbaby or they would have known Yorkies come in all shapes, sizes, colors, etc. And it's also people like that that make me wonder what in the heck they are gonna do with this same furbaby if he/she grows to be bigger than what they thought!! When I purchased Gabby, the breeder told me (and I saw the parents) how much the parents weighed and that Gabby "could" be around the same size. I was never mislead to believe she would stay around 5 pounds. She now weighs in at a whopping 16 pounds and I wouldn't trade her for anything!!! So to the idiotic people you encountered in the vet, she wouldn't be an elephant (some others have that title at 10 pounds) - she'd be more along the lines of the prehistoric mammoth!!!

| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | It's SUCH A shame that the tiny craze has many people thinking that Yorkies are susposed to be HAMPSTER size.... & they're huge if they are standard weight and size..... Kim - you did good not saying anything - but I would have stated your yorkies are a PERFECT size and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that ! Tinies are very adorable and I love them too - but people's conception is way OFF these days about what a real yorkie size is susposed to be. I don't have tinies - (I would never say no to one either) - but to me my girls ARE Small....I'd be scared to have them 1/2 the size they are now - I want to enjoy them ... not worry constantly...and I would if they were really small. |

| I had Mandi into the vet for a check recently and she said that Mandi will probably be between 5-7 pounds full grown. Her comment was "the perfect size." She said it scares her that some yorkies are so small. She said it is really hard to treat them if they ever get sick--IV's and stuff. The little tiny ones are certainly adorable but with having 2 human children in addition to my dogs, I think it best to have a dog that isn't so minature. Gosh, I think 5 pounds is still tiny!! You know we'd love them if they were 20#'s it don't matter. |

LOL - I have an unused hampster cage! Seriously, Kimberly, I feel your pain. My teapost elicits LOTS of comments...yet, when she's curled up in a ball in the middle of my livingroom (like right now), she still looks like a tiny little peanut to me! | |

This happened to me last year at one visit. The vet tech told me that Mojo (who wasn't even five pounds yet) was big and that we shouldn't allow him to gorge himself with food. I have never heard of such BS in my life! Some people!

| It is sad that the craze nowadays are the tinier the better when it comes to pets. I personally wouldn't want a Yorkie or any dog that was so small! I just couldn't imagine. I picked my daughters friend up last weekend and seen her mini schnauzer for the first time since it was first brought home. I mentioned how big she had gotten since the last time I had seen her and boy, did I hear about it. I didn't mean it as being overly big or overweight or anything, just how much she had grown up since I had last seen her. Boy, she was so ticked off for the longest time. Course, the sad thing is, she is now looking for a small long hair chihauha (?) and I just hope it wasn't because of my comments. - This coming from a 12 year old animal lover - yeah, sounds like she loves her animals if the one she has isn't good enough anymore, huh? Then again, I understand people saying how big your Yorkie looks, even if it isn't big at all. I have had numerous occasions where people will say something about how Mojo is bigger than their dog or so on. I just tell him his weight (between 5-5.5lbs) and that he is healthy. Course, to me, with his hair long, he looks bigger than normal, but in my eyes, he is perfect!!! ha! Anyway, I wanted to add to my other post that my vet (not tech) told me that a man came in awhile back looking for Yorkies to breed, but he did not allow anything under 4.5lbs. She couldn't believe it. She said that she thinks 5-10lbs is ideal. Everyone is different though
