| Military Wives I was just wondering how many military wives we have on here? My husband is in the Air Force. He will have been in for 4 years in March. He plans on staying in for 20 years. Its very tough being a military wife & dealing with all the seperation & crap the military deals you. At least we get good benefits! So who else is a military wife?

Donating YT 10K Club Member | I'm not a military wife, but I'm surrounded by them. I live the Tidewater area of Virginia. We have every military installation here...the Marines, Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, and if you're in the Navy....bet you're stationed in Norfolk at least once

| My daughter, Sebastians Mom, is a Marine wife. My sil has been in almost 6 years. I'm a Marine Mom -- my son has been in for 3 years and was recently notified that he will receive the Navy Commendation Medal with a Combat V for an event that went down recently while he was in Iraq. I fully support all military families!

I was in the navy for 4 1/2 years. My husband is still in. San Diego is our only real duty station so far (we both went to our schools in Chicago.) We actually have never been stationed in Norfolk. My husband lived there for a while (he was a Navy brat) so he avoids that place like the plague. No offense or anything, I think he just likes bigger cities more. We are currently up for his shore duty orders and have no idea where we even want to go. They are not letting us more any further west than TX. So that's probably where we'll end up. We're trying to inch our way back to Illinois I guess. I hate it though because we are moving away from everything we know. I don't have any family close to there and we've made so many good friends here (even though most are in the military and are eventually going to leave anyways as well.) At least I've learned how important friendships are and how hard the good ones are to find. I've also learned how important family is and now much I miss them. | |

From another site: The Commendation Medal is awarded by local commanders, allowing for a broad interpertation of the criteria for which the medal may be awarded. For instance, in the U.S. Navy and United States Marines, the Commendation Medal is considered a somewhat high decoration reserved for Department level officers, senior CPOs, and as a retirement award. It isn't easy to get one of these. I knew it was for something BIG but didn't know what until this past Sunday. Once he realized that I found out and he has told all of his family, I'll post to let you all know what kind of hero he is. Needless to say, I am a very proud (and worried) Marine mom!

I can't wait until you come home again! And thank you for the sacrifice's that you yourself have made for us. And thank you to all of our Service men and women all over the world And thanks to all the other military wives out there. Because you really do have the hardest job!!!

My Aunt is a Captian and Chaplian(sp) in the Army, she is being transfered to Colorado Springs, Colorado this month and will be leaving for Iraq soon. I miss her so much! I am not a Military wife but I am from a Military family. I pray for those serving over seas and also for the families who are waiting for their safe return....
