| This is for all the Army wives out there. I would like to recognize these often underestimated, unseen and unheard heroes. This is for the young women that are waking up at 6 a.m. every morning, laying out clothes and packing three lunches for those small precious children that they have been left alone to care for. This is for the pregnant Army wife wondering if her husband will make it home in time to watch their miracle happen. This is for the childless Army wife, living in a town or on a base alone where she is a complete stranger to her surroundings. This is for the women that feel like a third leg when they go out with their friends and their husbands. This is for the Army wife that canceled all her plans to wait by the phone, and even though the phone broke up and cut off every time you spoke to him you waited anyway. This is a pledge to the women that cry themselves to sleep in an empty bed. This is to recognize the woman that felt like she was dying inside when he said he had to go, but smiled for him anyway. This is for those of you that are faithfully in that long line at the post office once a month, handling 2 large boxes and 2 small children like a pro. This is for that woman that decided to remodel the house to pass time, and then realized that she had no idea what she was doing and sighed and wished she had a little help. This is for all the lonely nights, all the one-person dinners, and all of the wondering thoughts because you haven't heard from him in days. This is for the sad Army wives, the angry Army wives, and the strong Army wives. A toast to you for falling apart and putting yourselves back together. Because a pay check isn't enough, a body pillow in your bed is no consolation, and a web cam can never compare. This is for all of you no matter how easy or hard this was for you. Our soldiers are brave, they are heroes, but so are we. So the next time someone tells you that they would never marry an Army guy, don't bother explaining to them that you can't control who you fall in love with. Just think of this and nod your head, know that you are the stronger woman. Hold your heads up high, hang that flag in your front yard, stick 100 magnets on your car, and then give yourself a pat on the back. Be proud to be the woman that you are, be proud to be an Army wife. Unknown Author P.S. Anyone who is something other than Army, Just sub out army for whatever branch they serve!

| No, but my boyfriend was in the Air Force for four years. I have so much respect for him. My little brother was in a year but because of our being so close(inseperable), and being away too he left to pursue a career in truck driving. He now loves his new job, But I have so much respect for him. He's my baby. I couldn't live without him. I mean that literally. He's what I live for. Most of the men in my family has been in the armed forces.

| I have been a Navy wife for almost 4 years now. We've been through 3 different sea duty deployments. He was once gone for a 9 month deployment during our first year of marriage....talk about being "newlyweds". My husband is station in Coronado, CA (in San Diego) county. His dad is a retired Master Chief. One of his brother is station in TX. The other one is an officer for a submarine base in Conn. So talk about a military family It's hard dealing with deployments, but you learn and stick it out. I always remind myself how luckythat we have certain benefits such as email and phone calls. Back in the days, there was no such things as emails. Military wives back then only had to rely on "snail mail" just like my mother in law had to do. We are on shore duty now but my husband is up for sea duty next re-enlistment. Having my Teddy (yorkie) around definitely helps I hope we can all be there for each other if need be...especially around deployment times. |

| That poem brought tears to my eyes because my husband just left on Monday for his 4th deployment. I hate the 1st few days, especially now with a baby. It's so hard! He won't be home until the middle of June. I don't think June is ever going to get here!

| http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...t=calling+moms That was my thread about my husband LITERALLY almost missed my pregnancy. They were able to take the phone lines down when I called the ship to tell him to get his butt down to the hospital, I'm in labor and don't leave on the ship! I didn't have any family or friends, I would have been alone. Thank god thank god thank god! I remember every time that John has left on a deployment. I usually get home and cry. The first time I got home after driving around in circles not wanting to go home. The lights were on in the house(I always turn them off.) Dazed or something I called John's name, hoping with all of my heart that he didn't go or that the plane didn't leave (they were flying him to the ship). I ran throughout the house holding onto that hope that he was home. When I figured out that we must have just accidently left the lights on I had it, I balled and cried so much. I called my dad who didn't seem like he wanted to hear it, but he was in the navy as well for a few years. Everytime that I have a hard time with something I try to think, "Well, life could always be worse." Stay positive. I know my husband is coming home. At least he is healthy and not hurt. Try to plan the big day he will be back, email everyday and write letters and cards too. |
