I was in the navy for 4 1/2 years. My husband is still in. San Diego is our only real duty station so far (we both went to our schools in Chicago.) We actually have never been stationed in Norfolk. My husband lived there for a while (he was a Navy brat) so he avoids that place like the plague. No offense or anything, I think he just likes bigger cities more.
We are currently up for his shore duty orders and have no idea where we even want to go. They are not letting us more any further west than TX. So that's probably where we'll end up. We're trying to inch our way back to Illinois I guess. I hate it though because we are moving away from everything we know. I don't have any family close to there and we've made so many good friends here (even though most are in the military and are eventually going to leave anyways as well.) At least I've learned how important friendships are and how hard the good ones are to find. I've also learned how important family is and now much I miss them.
