I am wondering if anyone has used Rustoleum to change the color of their interior door handles and hinges. When we built our home the shiny gold was in and all of my interior hardware is the shiny gold. I am thinking of using Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze to paint the door handles and hinges. Anyone tried this? I looked on You Tube and Pinterest and it can be done but don't know if it looks good after you are done or if I should just bite the bullet and buy new. Anyone?

I also give a thumbs up to the Rustoleum for outdoor use. All of my patio furniture is painted with it so that the color matches. It even stands up to the hose water, which tends to rust things faster.

I also used Rustoleum (a brush on variety) on our concrete foundation and utilities (gas meter, electrical box). Seven years later, no rust, cracking, or peeling.

Thanks -- we only picked like the hottest weekend of the year to make it outside, poor hubs . I based it upon this $525 dog bed that is similar: dog beds

We didn't do feet on the bed bc yorkies are so little, but I still may add them...not sure.

Kristin - thanks for the info on Rustoleum...think I'm going to just cover EVERYthing out there w/ the stuff ! It's so dry here, but we still get rust.

I think it would work perfectly and look awesome!! All our door handles and hinges are that blackened oil-rubbed finish and I really like them. Can you try one first that isn't so visible...like a laundry room door or a closet or a garage door or something? If you do it, would love to see how it turns out. I've found spray paints made specifically for metal to work really well, btw.

I was going to try a closet door first (good idea). I'm also going to try and do it without taking the door off the hinges instead tape off with painters tape and put a drop cloth behind the door so I don't spray my wall. DH thinks I'm crazy but I hate these shiny brass door handles.

I'll warn you, this is a very big project! I've done it. For best results, take the hardware off the door. Clean it thoroughly to remove oils, like hand oils from the knobs.

I'm on the fence about the durability of painting door hardware. I have to redo our kitchen cabinet knobs periodically. That might have something to with the fact that we wash our hands right before touching them. Maybe the soap and dampness is hard on them. My dad also has natural hand oils that seems to take the finish off of everything.

Hinges are the hardest, making sure the paint doesn't drip or prevent the hinge from working properly.

If your hardware is in good shape, I would be inclined to live with the shiny brass. Definitely test on a not so visible door first.

I decided I didn't want to deal with paint, so I taped 1/2 a piece of scrapbook paper on the inside of the front of the totes.

I wish I could have gotten nicer looking boxes, but this was cheaper and more durable.

Floor grills. They get so scuffed up and scratched and what-ever, what are my options here? THey mostly have a brass type finish. Not sure if it is real brass or not.

Where your heat and a/c come out of on the floor. A register maybe is the term you use in the States.

Now I know what you mean. Hmmm...wonder if you could put a clear-coat of something on them, if that'd help them be more durable. Like a clear-coat Rustoleum spray or whatnot. I'm not much help here as we don't have the floor registers. You could also think about "distressing" them or making them look more like a dark zinc or oil-rubbed color or something via some sprays...wonder if you could do that.
