I think it would work perfectly and look awesome!! All our door handles and hinges are that blackened oil-rubbed finish and I really like them. Can you try one first that isn't so visible...like a laundry room door or a closet or a garage door or something? If you do it, would love to see how it turns out. I've found spray paints made specifically for metal to work really well, btw.
