YT 1000 Club Member | I can't take these horrible news anymore!!!! Not only did I come across one horrible article but two. One of these terrible acts was committed by an 11 year old girl. | Not only are these stories disturbing but lately there has been a sharp rise in the number of police related dog deaths. People are having less respect for the life of animals. Check out pages like Justice for Bucky who was shot by police in his own home because the officer was "scared" of a 12 lb therapy dog! I fear that people will never stop viewing a dog as expendable. |

| There is serious problems when people are hurting helpless animals that do nothing but good for people. I hate to think what happened to those animals before they were killed and dumped. As far as that little girl, she has some real issues. Normal girls that age don't do things like that. She's obviously very angry. Probably abused or who knows. She needs serious help or we'll probably see her on the news in 15 years again. |

| I just saw the worst thing on the news last night! Someone took a puppy and pulled its little tongue as far out of its mouth as possible, then clamped the muzzle shut on it and ducktaped the muzzle closed on the little tongue!!! That baby was sitting there with its little head hanging down and this huge red balloon of a thing hanging from its muzzle. I don't know how the dog was found and what was done being or was done for it as I hit "Pause" on the DVR and had to change the channel. On the huge TV screen that close up of that horror just took me by surprise & hurt so bad I couldn't deal right then. It hit something somewhere that just took me out and I lost it. I've thought of it so often since so today I will have to go find out and see if there is anything to do to help. But last night - the huge site of what some monster had done filling the my field of vision was more than I could manage. What fiend did that should be publicly "caned" or something and then sit in jail for years! That act took a monster!

| I just read those 2 stories! Shocking! Do you think it is the gory movies and books & games people are always watching these days that are desensitizing humanity? Remember "Justice for Justice"? The lab-mix puppy a teenager in Dallas poured gas or something over & lit him on fire? Justice lived for a few days. They said even when Justice was dying and his BP so very low, he would still wag his little tail when touched. It broke my heart. My son went to a memorial for Justice at Dallas City Hall Justice's story touched him so.

| Whatever is going on and whatever is causing it, it seems like more and more kids for the last 25 years or so have sure seemed unhappy and unempathetic with a tendency to violence at younger ages. There are many more not that way but still it is shocking to hear what is going on with kids in places like Chicago this year and all the vicious treatment of each other and dogs all over. Like many, I'm thinking it is that many don't have stable home lives. There are outliers, of course, but it does seem that so many young people that wind up in the news don't have a good, stable home life.

Thor's Human Donating Member | sbgooljar, I've noticed that you've posted a lot of really disturbing stories recently. Maybe you need to stop torturing yourself with these awful news pieces? I'm saying this out of concern because of your thread title. To be honest, I stopped reading the news a long time ago, and I'm much better for it. I get the important stuff from 'The Colbert Report'. I really don't mean this as critical at all, your thread title just made me sad.

ETA At least she got charged with a felony! Most of the time animal cruelty charges only carry misdemeanor unfortunately.
