| Goulash recipes? My mother used to make the most delicious Goulash. It seems like all she put in it was ground beef, macaroni, onion and tomatoes, maybe some tomatoe sauce. That's all I can remember being in it anyway. No matter how hard or how many times I try, I just can't make good Goulash. For one thing, I always overcook the pasta (yuk). Does anyone have a great Goulash recipe they're willing to share? Please include cooking instruction and times, as I'm not the best cook in the world. Thanks! Bonny

| By the way, after browning the meat, I've also cooked it in the crock pot then just made the noodles at serving time. |

| Hi Bonnie, This is similar to what I put in: MOM'S MEMPHIS HAMBURGER GOULASH Read more about it at Cooks.com - Recipe - Mom's Memphis Hamburger Goulash Content Copyright © 2011 Cooks.com - All rights reserved. 1 lb. ground beef 1 lg. onion, chopped 1 tbsp. salad oil 1 c. elbow macaroni 1 (1 lb. 4 oz.) can tomatoes 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1/2 c. cubed Cheddar cheese Saute beef and onions in oil. Drain off excess fat. Meanwhile, in another pan cook macaroni in boiling salted water until tender. Drain and add to meat mixture with tomatoes. Season with salt and pepper. Put in Cheddar cheese, cover and simmer slowly for about 20 minutes. 4-6 servings.

| You can also add vegetables, if you're a veggie lover. Sometimes I add some, sometimes not. Celery is good to add as well.

| Funny, I always thought Goulash was just homemade hamburger helper my mom came up with, LOL She made hers with ground beef, onion if you like it, tomato sauce, mixed vegetables (veg.soup), and macaroni. When it was thickened, she put slices velveeta cheese on top until it was melted good, then it was time to eat! Yummy...brings back childhood memories.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Bonny....my grandma made goulash the same way your Mom did, it was simple but oh so delicious♥. I know her recipe was ground beef, canned whole tomatoes (she would crush them in the pan, but for me it always smashes the macaroni, so I do crush them in a bowl first, or buy crushed). I know she used onion and I add garlic powder although I don't know that was one of her ingredients (lol...even garlic powder back then was considered "exotic" by some). I think the secret to my Gandma's was chili powder....I know she used it, just not sure how much....you couldn't really taste it and think "hmmmm....chili powder", it was not a strong note in the dish. Brown ground beef and onion, while you're cooking the macaroni. Cook the macaroni a minute or so less than package instructions because you'll cook it for a bit, after adding to the ground beef mixture. To the beef add....can of tomatoes, garlic powder, onion powder (if you don't use fresh onion browned with your beef), salt , pepper and probably a tablespoon of chili powder. Now, add your macaroni, simmer for another few minutes. I'm known here for my "one-dish" meals so I add a cup or so of frozen corn to my goulash. The goulash along with a nice salad and bread and your meal is complete with 2-3 vegetable servings. Oh...also, don't know how much of a difference it makes but I think it must be huge for the best flavor.....My Grandma always cooked her goulash in a great big cast-iron skillet. My group likes to added shredded cheddar cheese but I don't, preferring the flavors of the goulash not be overwhelmed by cheese flavor.

| These recipes make me hungary, Bonny since your pasta is overcooked why couldn't you stir this in last after simmering..this is what i do sometimes if i want pasta in veg.soup
