(laughing) Just try to get it out of your mind. When you described the sound of your Hoover, I had to laugh. I KNOW that sound. I went through about 10 "sounds" just like that.

She said 5-7 days.

I guess the old Hoover will have to last a few more rounds.

Oh... another cool thing with these. When you put them in the upright position but leave them turned on....the brushes stop moving but the sweeper keeps running.

Very cool! I have enough "brush burns" on my stairs from my old sweepers.

My ex-husband burned up two vacuums that way. It never made sense to me why the companies didn't fix that. Everything I'm hearing about these makes me feel better about deciding on one. I can't wait to get it!

I have a dyson animal, I love it.. I have owned a Kirby and a Rainbo, but the dyson is by far the best.

ANIMAL...I keep picturing the drummer on the muppet show running around saying ''woman, woman''.

We have a dyson, but I don't know which one it is. It is not a ball. It is one of the small ones. We were at Home Depot a couple years ago and it was on a clearance rack as a floor model marked down. Never used but dusty and no box available, as is for like $75. I just knew Dysons were expensive and bought it. I do not vacuum at all. I have no idea how it works. DH does all that and he loves it. Says it is the best vacuum we've ever had, so I guess that means it's pretty good.

I had hoovers that would burn out every other year. Can't count the number I went through.

I bought the Dyson, but ended up taking it back. For the price, it didn't pick up any better than the hoover.

I finally ended up with an Oreck that I love. Plus it has a 10 year warranty. I have to take it in once a year to have it professionally cleaned (free), but if I need it, I can bring it in once a month. The price of the bags is the biggest draw back, IMO.

LOL... yeah, when he broke his neck, took about two years before he could do basic things again...still disabled but he can clean the house again. not quite as well as he used to... but still.... boy that two years it was pretty bad, because our marriage vows were pretty explicit... nana does NOT clean.. I remember about 30yrs ago I had an Oreck. That is a pretty sweet vacuum. Very lightweight and did a great job. I had a Rainbow once, that is a pain in the butt with the water and gunk.

FYI....our Wal-mart has started carrying Orek bags. Think I paid about $7 for 3 bags.....much better than the Orek store - plus I didn't have to drive 45 minutes to get to Wal-mart.

I use a dust mop on my stained concrete floors. I've got an Orek and a Rainbow, but Razz likes chasing the dust mop....so, even though it's more work to use, it's more enjoyable watching him have fun
