Ann, thank you. I can't tell you how much I appreciate this.

I'm embarrassed by my behavior on this thread. You know, and I think most others know, that this isn't like me - especially on such a trivial matter.

What bothers me more than anything are the comments made to a much loved, long time member on another of this OP's threads. It seems today is "one of those days". It started out bad and has just gotten worse.

I'm sure there are a few Shih Tzus out there that are awesome, so can somebody enlighten me on their good points?

Okay, I said it. It can't be unsaid now.

They are a beautiful breed not unattractive at all imho, intelligent, inquisitive, totally devoted to their owners. The ones I've known have been very eager to learn. These are just some of their good points :) They run and jump too :)

I love all dogs, might favor some (like Yorkies:p) over others but I think Shih Tzus are adorable w/their ewok faces. They also 'talk' alot, bounce around, has the most expressive faces...darn cute, what's not to like?

O.M.G. This is NOT how I wanted this to turn. All I was posting was about a breed of dog that I didn't think was all too bright. I did post a disclaimer, so as to place the onus of the dogs' (Shih Tzus, in this case) behavior on the owner. And, like I mentioned, one of the STs in question belonged to an ex-BF, of whom I am not fond. All this in-fighting, personal attacks, and so on, and so forth, were beyond my comprehension. I hear people all_the_time say they don't like "yappy little dogs" WHILE they are petting my precious (and, none yappy!) Pippi. I don't take offense, rather just laugh it off. People have such varying degrees of likes and dislikes that I thought we could all be adults here, and recognize this as such

There is a member here, who felt she needed the last word to insult me (when I had done *nothing* to warrant such a rude personal attack), and I sent her a strongly-worded PM (which she probably won't read, but whatever ).

I mentioned in a post (forget which now) that Miss Behavin was the name of one of my favorite geldings when I was living in Argentina (moved from Europe to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where polo is insanely popular. Wellington, where my parent's currently live, is the winter polo capitol of the world - polo ponies are shipped from dozens of countries to be there now), and that is why I chose this as my screen name. NOT b/c I intended on causing trouble. I thought my posts were benign, until things became construed in the manner other than what I meant.
And, if someone is going to pick an argument w/me, I am like a Yorkie, I will NOT EVER back down ;)

So, can we PLEASE just leave this at that?

LOL....I might have said the very same things about yorkies, if I based my opinion on a couple of different yorkies I found when we were looking for Ruby. I'm glad that I kept an open mind and continued looking!

There is no breed of dog that I really dislike, only breeds some of which I like more than others. Shih Tzus, Lhasa Apsos, Maltese and Yorkies have long been my favorites, any breed with long, flowing hair steals my heart.

Well for someone very new to this forum, your posts come off very offensive to many YT member quite apparently. You may need to "back down" a bit or the chances of you staying a member here for long don't look very good.

We all have our opinions, we have to try to respect each other as well.

Shih Tzus are one of my favorite breeds. They look very glamorous with their long hair. At one time, I wanted to breed them, so I could have an endless supply of Shih Tzus for myself. LOL My Shih Tzu has a laidback personality, which I love. Shih Tzus love to play, but they are usually not hyperactive dogs. These dogs were breed to be friendly lap dogs for Chinese royalty. They do not like to be handled roughly, and they love to be spoiled. I chose this breed, because I wanted a calm and sweet lap dog that followed me around the house. My dog's main purpose is just to be my companion. :)

This is stupid, but I am going to say it anyway. I am not sure what they are, I just know they are two big dogs.
My NEIGHBORS dogs, they bark at everything and anything and all day. It really is not my neighbors dog it the daughters has she ever heard of doggie day care.
I told you it was stupid other then that I have not seen a dog I do not like.LOL

Sounds like a personal issue. Sorry LOL:D

JoshieBoy 01-11-2010 06:19 PM

I forgot to add that Shih Tzus have a spunky personality. My Shih Tzu's spunky personality makes me laugh. It takes Shih Tzus longer to learn, because they can be obstinate. With positive, consistent, and patient training, Shi Tzus can learn a lot of tricks and commands. My Shih Tzu will learn anything for a treat. She gets excited when it is time to learn a new trick. Some Shih Tzus have behavioral problems, because their owner is not leader of the pack. When an owner is not leader of the pack, Shih Tzus can become snappish when surprised or peeved. :)

Don't be sorry - I feel bad for any dog left outside like that and blame the people ....but non-stop barking really can get on your nerves

Wow, I have been busy all day and barely finished reading this all. I totally agree with you Breeze, and now look the OP has been banned. If I'd made a bet, I would've won.

I was offended at the first post (and I don't even own a shihtzu), but the good of the others here on YT kept it fairly lighthearted for a while at least. If I don't like a certain kind of dog I'm gonna keep it to myself b/c this is a forum for DOG LOVERS. Personally, I took the first post to be along the lines of "what kind of nationalities of people do you not like?"

I know that this person has been BANNED!, (why do they put that exclamation point after it, makes it looks shocking) Anyway, she sure had a way of getting people all riled up and then used all those smiley faces to look so innocent.
