Her mom and dad should NOT allow her and her kids to live there to begin with. If she's an adult and old enough to be having kids, then she should be old enough to support them. Her parents are enabling her. If their daughter had one child it would be different, but, when she keeps doing this over and over, that's when they should have put their foot down

She needs more than some tough love. They totally enabled her craziness. I know it's a fine line to walk because they love their daughter and their grandchildren so that is why they enabled her. They sure didn't want to the children suffer. So by trying to make sure the grandbabies were ok they sure didn't do them any favors in the long run.

Who ever owns the house it's still too small for that size of a family. She does seem like a hoarder. We have three children (two girls and a boy) and we have three bedrooms and we are just comfortable...go figure trying to cram all those kids into that house.

ACS might need to check her out and see if she can adequately care for them.

In her moms interview she said three bedrooms. Whether it's two or three it's just seriously tight quarters.

You are right about it being seriously tight quarters!

If Social Services was doing a home visit for a potential Foster home, three bedrooms would not have been deemed adequate for the people in the house......let alone eight more!! But, I'm sure they will be getting all kinds of help! I feel sorry for ALL the children, what kind of chance for a "normal" existence do they have?

Don't worry as the kids get older they will find more and more excuses to hang at their friends house. You have to wonder as well how well they will do emotionally. It's hard to be a child that is just part of a crowd. How do you get the indiviudal time with your parents to develop your own personality and figure out who your gonna be when you grow up. I know that ideally children can do well in a large family but you have to wonder when they are in a family that is so large...you have to feel like you fall into the cracks of things.

I think the mother has an obsessive disorder with HAVING babies. I think she feels a "high" being pregnant and doing the things such as picking out names , dreaming of their faces , and looking at baby things but then soon after the baby is born that excitement fades and she is back trying to regain that feeling by having more and more kids.

As Ann said , she is almost hording children. I really don't think she does it because she loves children. I'm not saying she doesn't love her children, but I think it's more a case of mental instability that need to be evaluated. For her to keep having children with blatant disregard to her own financial situation is crazy ! She knows she cannot support them but that was not enough to stop her.

The clinic ...don't even get me started ! The doctor that implanted all those embryos is beyond unethical .The doctor and the relationship between the doctor and this woman needs to be looked into. No reputable doctor with any kind of ethical compass would implant that amount of eggs , in a woman who seemingly has mental issues that ANY psychological testing would have made apparent.

I have been hearing on the news she is divorced , there is no father to help raise these children , she is no where near financially able to care for her children and even her own family talks as though she is selfish and unstable for doing this. You know what I think you seriously summed up her issues here. It really is such a wonderous thing carrying that life, imagining what he/she will look like, picking the names etc. Girl you sure hit it right on the head if you ask me.

I've never heard of anyone getting paid for IVF either personally. I would think that people might if they are participating in a study of some sort. I think it is completely unethical for any doctor to implant that many babies, but I have many issues with IVF aside from that. I think this particular case is crazy. Mainly because there was so much effort put into her having multiples. I get defensive and do take it personally because of all of the insinuations that no one can care for more than "x amount" of children. I don't think that people have that right to determine how many children a person can care for. If people are not capable of caring for that many children at one time, I guess everyone is unfit as parents that sends their children to school or daycare since there are usually at least 15 and as many as 30 or so kids in one classroom being taken care of by one teacher, and sometimes a teachers aide. Sure they are just at school, but they are at school for more awake hours with their teachers than they are at home awake spending time with their own parents.
As far as people that live off of the state, I can agree to a certain extent, but I don't think you can have someone mandatorily (is that a word, lol) sterilized because you don't feel like paying for them to support their kids. I could understand having people sterilized for giving birth to baby after baby every 9 months thats addicted to crack that just ends up in the foster care system before I can see that.
This mother has gotten a ton of media attention. If she is really not caring properly for her children I am sure it will not go unnoticed. I am not defending this mothers actions, but I will not ever want to live in a country where the government can tell me how many times I am allowed to give birth and how many children I can raise.

Those PEOPLE who send their kids off to daycare/nursery school do so because they have to work! They are not living off tax payer's money.
I am sure they would rather be home with their children than leaving them
all day long. Most are single parents who have no other choice. Someone
has to bring home the money to support them. Most are middle class
people who are the back bone of this country! Without us there would
be no welfare, no free anything.
If you can't be self supporting but rely on the government for hand outs,
unless your disabled and continue to have children then yes you should
be fixed! I work for a non profit child care agency and believe me I see
these kind of people who live off the system. The things they do to get
free money you would never even dream of thinking about in 100 years.
They know all the in and out's of the system. Every way to beat it and
do. Amazing! One family actually returned the child after 18yrs. Why because
they could no longer collect once the child turned 18. They now wanted
another baby!. This poor kid now had no parents and was returned to the
system. They said he was not controllable but had him since birth!
You have no idea what people will do to make $.
This woman has a mental condition. Lack of brains it's called.
If you can't take care of the children you have you have no right to
have more and expect other's to pay for them! PERIOD!

Sick part is she will probably get more rewards coming her way.
Wasn't this her plan to begin with? How dare she expect her father
and mother to support her.
I too won't watch Oprah ever again is she supports this looney

That clinic needs to be investigated. I would like to know where
all the money came from for the drugs she took. I know how expensive
they are too. Insurance don't pay for these drugs either.
If she had that kind of money she should have used it for the future
to support the 6 children she already has.

Couple things...

1. Isn't there a legal limit to the amount of people that can live in a house depending on the size and number of bedrooms?

2. The woman definately is a 'hoarder' of children. Its NOT possible to take care of 8 newborns and give the other 6 children enough time and attention. 8 children will keep you busy 24/7. Then you need to feed 6 more, do laundry for 14, clean the house, baths, homework with some of the kids, reading books to them, tucking each one into bed. She cannot do all that alone. Its impossible. And her parents do not count for 'motherly attention' even if they do it to help out, they are not those kids MOTHER.

3. She is on welfare and getting her masters through government grants. This irks me to no end. Actually it infuriates me. I make GOOD money! I own my own townhouse, have a new car, work hard, pay taxes... and I am struggling to get a college education for my bachelors degree. Should I have kids out of wedlock when Im not ready so that I can finally get SOME help for being an upstanding citizen and not being a burden to the state and taxpayers to get an education?? Common sense!!! Why can she get a free education and be on welfare and keep pumping out kids and I can't get a PENNY of help when Im struggling and on my own with no kids, a good job, and a better sense of morals?? huh?

4. Let Oprah give her $2 million, at least then she won't be taking taxpayers money. Oprah can afford it more than we can.

5. The IVF clinic/doctor should be brought up on malpractice charges. Ethics are huge in our society today since so many are money hungry grubs. What was done was unethical and unsafe and just plain ignorant.

6. Its not possible to have 8 babies unaided. Its not meant to happen to human beings. 1, 2 and rarely 3 and 4 is about the limit of unaided pregnancies at one time.

17 percent of twins are the result of fertility treatments.
40 percent of triplets are the result of fertility treatments.
