Funny how everyone says we need to ban together, now that their guy got elected. I doubt you would have the same attitude if it went the other way. For me it was a very sad day. I think our founding fathers would roll over in their graves if they knew the issues the new president stands for. If unity means supporting a president that goes against all I believe in, then I don't want it.
Someone said "why people can't just suck up their pride and SUPPORT the president". Well why cant other people suck up their pride and accept that some people have their faith that they hold strong to and that they don't have to support someone that doesn't follow the same convictions. I didn't vote for him because I LOVE this country and what we have been blessed with.
The day that the US comes together and holds hands and sing songs and the rainbows and bluebirds come out I would be in fear.

i think we have to be realistics and practical. I don't think he can fulfill all of his promises in one year or maybe even 2. It will take years to rebuild this economy. It just sucks that he has to clean up all the mess.

Well I didnt vote for him but I am giving him My support. Our economy is in a slump and we need someone to pull us out of this. Hopefully he can do it in time. We shouldnt expect miracles from him though

There is a REASON that people didn't support and believe in Bush, and it goes far beyond disagreeing with his politics. I WILL say that he did the best he could and made the decisions that he believed were best. However, the economy wasn't like this when he got into presidency, so he must have something to do with it. and for THAT, I dislike him as president. I think he's a good man, but I do not think he was a fit president. on that note, I still respected him and supported him as President. I talked negatively of him, yes, but I respected him as my President.

You don't have to love the man -- of course not -- but regardless of that he is YOUR President. You can spit on the ground he walks on, but you STILL need to respect him as President. We are so blessed to live a country where someone can say that they hate him without having their tounges cut out!

It took YEARS to create this mess, and it's going to take President Obama a lot of time to fix it. I am very concerned that people are going to wake up today and tomorrow, and when the country isn't back to normal, they're going to hate him.

You can't please everyone. Personally, I'm glad he doesn't try to please everyone, because right now he needs to focus on the tasks at hand - fixing our economy, improving our schools, and so on. Those things are our future. If they aren't 100%, then what is the point?

Whether you're happy with the results or not....he's the President and unless he screws up big time (which I, personally, highly doubt he will), he'll be the President for the next 4 years. We've not seen him screw anything up yet, so best to hope for the positive and hope he holds true, IMO.

Again...this should not be a political bashing thread.

Just because you don't like Obama or Bush, and just because the obvious minority of Americans(since each was elected to serve their time), wants to do nothing but bash, why would you want to be like them?? I know I was raised to respect whoever it is in office...not go with the minority and bash the one I didn't select. I chose to take the higher road. I didn't select Bush and didn't approve of some of his policies BUT I respectd him as my president.He does seem like a nice human being and I also admire Laura and the whole Bush family. I did not start ranting and raving about I'm not happy, I don't like him, he's this or that. I can be disappointed that my choice did not win but regardless of that I RESPECTED him, his position, and the job he was set forth to do.

Obama wasn't my pick in the primary either but I am happy with the selection of the majority of my fellow Americans!!! I will respect him and I will continue to do so in the future.....whoever is selected, my party or not! I will teach my children to do the same. Not bash and talk about the president you didn't want because everyone else is!

I look for a brighter future for ALL of us as one! Sorry for the rant...I'm really not good at ranting...

I agree. But, although I didn't want him, he's the pres. now and have to give him a chance. Although, he said before everyone would have ins. and now the other day, I read where he said "kids" will all have ins. well, I think parents need it also, if anything happens to the parents who don't have health ins. who will take care of the kids? Oh well, he's got 4 years, and if he doesn't do as he promised, then, we will need to find a new Pres

Good point. I agree, what are the kids without the parents? It think that health insurance is something that EVERYONE should have, I just don't think it should be up to working America to foot the bill to provide them with it. (And that is an opinion that has nothing to do with who is in office...it would be the same regardless to who was elected.)

My hope is that he can get our country going in a new direction. He's fresh, he's young & I believe, he has surrounded himself with a TEAM. When I hear them speak, I like the attitudes of his cabinet choices.
Also, listen to what the world is saying about America! They are celebrating OUR choice. We have given many people in the world hope.
Let's not be hasty to judge. Whether he is the right one or the wrong one, I just have to say, I am so proud of America. That we stepped out of the box of old Washington, bypassed color & elected THIS man as President, shows how far we have come as a nation.

Well, I'll tell you the Problems I have. I'm tired of them taking over $10,000 out of my hubbys checks every year and me paying for people that could be working to have kids, etc. I'm tired of me NOT having health ins. because hubbys company only pays for the employees, and I don't have the extra $ every month to get my own(would if we didn't have to pay so much in taxes) and the one big NO NO in my book that Obama has already wanted to do to boost the economy..is to give middle class americans $500 apiece, wooppee, he's putting us millions of dollars further in debt, and believe me $500 isn't going to boost the economy, it will go towards my charge card bill. This is where I have problems with him. I'm just really tired(like everyone else is) of supporting all these low lifes that won't work get out and work and support their families.
