Regardless to if I like him or not, I respect the position he holds as the man America elected and I will support him and his efforts while he is in office.

I think that that's a brilliant idea. On another forum I'm on, all through the elections we had an Obama/Biden thread and a McCain/Palin thread, and everyone had their own place to chat and it worked beautifully. I think that's a great suggestion.

No one knows for sure that he will be amazing, but at the same time, no one knows for sure that he won't be. It is so much better for your health to keep your head up and hope for the best, so that is EXACTLY what I intend to do! President Obama is only one man...and he is only human. We cannot expect him to change the world...especially not over night. But he can bring hope back into the American hearts and restore faith in our beautiful country and our government. I think you nailed it Megan. I think that is exactly why so many are excited. It's a great feeling and one that a lot of Americans haven't been feeling. It's so very important right now too.

I'm really glad that everyone has their different opinions and they obviously know how to voice them. However, I don't understand why people can't just suck up their pride and SUPPORT the president of THEIR country instead of being so negative and whining about what he most likely won't do. I'm just curious as to what organizations you run or what you do to make this such a better country? Because, obviously the whining isn't helping anything.

I'm off my soap box now and this is the first and last comment I'm going to make, I'm just sick of everyone being so pessimistic and not even trying to support and believe in our new president.

I just want to say that I am proud to have President Obama as our new president and wish him luck in turning this economy around. I am also saddened for former President Bush that he was unable to do it himself. I believe that BOTH Obama and Bush are honest loving men who had/have the best of intentions for our country. I pray that we all can work WITH them to obtain our goals.

I just got home not too long ago from the inauguration...still trying to thaw out. It was an incredible experience and I am so glad I was able to take my son down to experience it. Yes, I was freezing my butt off and am tired as heck but it was all worth it. It was so refreshing to look around and be among people from different backgrounds, religions AND political parties who came together as 1 Nation. I think our president is someone refreshing and new who has brought back a sense of togetherness no matter who you are or where you come from, there is no "us" or "them". The screams and emotions at the moment he was officially sworn in was a sight to see, hear & be a part of....

We went down to the mall then over to the parade route. Then while we were at it, I took my son to the Lincoln House for a tour. I met so many people from everywhere....what an experience!

You're so lucky I wish I could have been there!! My hubbys family is from MD, they watched on TV though I think.


I watched him get sworn in but missed the parade, I had to get some things done before my class. I just saw stuff on the news though and they were saying that he didn't waste anytime getting to work, he already got started on some things.

It seems like it would only be fair. If it's allowed to post in support of him, it should be allowed for others to voice opposing opinions as well. Of course, as the saying goes, "life ain't always fair."

This was the first election that my 19 year old son and his friends were eligible to vote in. We live in Chicago and after they voted they all headed downtown to be part of the celebration in Grant Park. They came back that night and were awe struck at the energy and excitement in the crowd and I can just imagine what it must have been like today. Again he sat, watched and listened to Obama's speech and looked to me and said he really liked what he had heard. The fundamentals of our new President are the way that I have tried to raise my children. In particular, when President Obama speaks to us that we need to ban together and work as a group for the betterment of all citizens makes me stand up to listen. I have tried to raise my children by this creed by my example. If more people lived by "we" instead of "me" this would be a much better world to live in. WE should all pray for this change.
