If everyone exerted the effort and lived by that mindset, it would be a much better place. To achieve the betterment of all citizens requires effort being put forth by all citizens. The only way "we" can become better is if everyone strives to achieve more and better themselves first, thus bettering everyone in the big picture.

Hopefully EVERYONE will follow his example in this and strive for betterment.

Since Obama is working so hard at turning red and blue into purple, can't we do the same? Two words: Unity and civility. This is a new America.

I agree...that's the same thing I was preaching through the last 8 years with Bush in office.

well said, Ann. you would think that even if people didn't agree with his policies, etc. that they could see what a great day in history this is!
some people get so angry when they talk about Obama, as if he is a bad person..

i think he is very smart man who deserves respect!

No one knows for sure that he will be amazing, but at the same time, no one knows for sure that he won't be. President Obama is only one man...and he is only human. We cannot expect him to change the world...especially not over night. I watched with my children and could not have been happier. They understand what a historic day this was for our nation and they understand the pride felt by so many Americans both black and white.

While no President has ever been able to stand by every promise they made, many Americans need to feel like we have hope right now and no matter what you feel about President Obama what we witnessed today was the hope of Millions of people for a better America.

Personally, I am so glad that the election process is over with. Whether or not I supported President Obama while he was campaigning is irrelevant - he won the election and is now our new President. I hope with all my heart and will pray daily that President Obama will bring us out of the economic slump, create new jobs, and bring our men and women home from war victorious. You can be sure that the President, his family and all of our leaders will be in my daily prayers.

We watched the inaugeration all day and are so Very Happy and from what we see the whole world is looking to ur New President ***OBAMA*** with Great Respect ! You are all so Lucky !
We only wish we could have someone as him here as our Prime Minister

Are you serious? Bush promised us that we will never be attacked on our soil again after Sept 11th when he was president and he kept that didnt he?
