My hubby is an avid bow hunter. So...trust me...I have tried everything to kill the "wild' or "gamie' taste of the venison. Nothing...I repeat...nothing...has worked for me. I personally can't even get passed the smell of venison cooking. Yuck!!! If you want a much better alternative? Try buffalo meat. It taste's great and is very low in fat and cholesterol. I will never go back to beef after having the buffalo. Karen

Contrary to popular belief, the dehydrators aren't very hard to clean and they're dishwasher safe.

| In reference to mstrooperwife--I think that is why up here in the north we hang the deer for a few days before butchering-weather permitting. has to be cold! The longer you can hang it, the better it is. if it is cold enough, some guys hang them for days. sounds gross, but what do you think they do with beef? it is better aged I believe. Also have heard of soaking it in milk too.

| If you like stew you can make stew meat out of it and you will never know the differance. Just cook it slow. We use it in Irish stew, All kinds of soup, And we make ( Beef tips and Rice) but we use venison for the meat. We dont care for fried food so we do roast and stew meat out of most of ours. If you but 2 cans of Cream of mushroom soup in your roast it will not be dry. I hope this helps!!

| OMG I want some deer jerky RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!! We used to eat it a lot when I was a kid as my dad/brother always hunted, and I liked all of it (before I really was old enough to think about it...), but deer jerky was/still is my very favorite! I want some right now!!!!!!! Sorry, no help with recipes! BTW, we never called it "venison" either...we were FAR too country for that...so it was just plain ole DEER JERKY YUM!

| My sister and her husband do not freeze the deer meat they CAN it. They use a pressure canner and alternate the stew size pieces of venison with beef suet. I can give you the recipe (after I get it from my sis) if you would like it. Just PM me! It does not taste like venison at all and tastes really good. PLUS it can be stored in the pantry or in a cool place on a shelf. I do not like the game taste either........ and by canning the meat with beef suet, it really makes a difference.

| What I wouldn't give to have some wild venison for my girls!!! Anything free range and wild would be the ultimate way to feed the fur-kids!
