| Lisa, that's caffeine withdrawal!!! Every time I tried to give up Diet Coke, I would get SEVERE headaches and I also got very dizzy. It took about 5 or 6 days for that to pass. I drink a lot of water now and if I once in a while "fall off the wagon" and drink Diet Coke, it tastes funny to me but I'm sure if I started drinking it again on a regular basis, I'd be addicted. Once a DC addict, always a DC addict.

| Ok... here goes! Hi! My name is Misty and I am a Coke-aholic. It's a life long disease but I have been clean since January of 2007 (as long as you look past a weekend binge in Oxford.) Step 1: Put down the coke! Step 2: Resist the urge to drink Coke and suffer through hell week! Coke is like crack and you are addicted. Step 3: Drink 100 oz of water a day. You'll be so full you won't want to drink anything else. Step 4: Never drink Coke again. Anytime I have 1 Coke, I go nutso and HAVE to have another and another and another. If I have even a taste now, I'll crave it for days afterwards. Now if I need the fizz of Coke, I drink a Sprite.

| Same thing with my friend Lizzy! She drinks coffee and I do not. We both gave up Diet Coke at the same time and I got SEVERE headaches and she didn't.

| Yep. Add me to the list of Caffeine Addiction. I get headaches if I don't have any caffeine by afternoon. I do coffee, and tea. I don't like Diet Coke. But if I have no other source of Caffeine, I'll drink it. I weened myself off Caffeine a few years ago. Just cold turkey. I started drinking decaf coffee (it has a "little caffeine"), and aspirin or Ibuprofen for the headaches. But now I"m back on caffeine, I just couldn't stay away from all the good coffee out there. Decaf is so limited on flavors. Docs told me I need to get off Caffeine for a lump in my booby. It's nothing and never will be anything.... so... I'm bad, after a year of suffering thru bad tasting decafs I slowly went back onto caffeine. Booby lump remains unchanged! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I am a terrible coke (a cola) addict. I drink it first thing in the morning, all day and late at night. I have been drinking it for 40 plus years. My son and dtr switched to diet Dr. Pepper and say they can't tell the difference, I can!!! I did have a cherry lime aid today instead of a coke when my son and I went out for breakfast!!! It's a start!

| Years ago hubby and I went cold turkey from regular coke to diet coke. I swear 2 months later there was an article in the paper saying regular coke sales were down and diet coke sales were up. I just know it was because of us!

| Every time I decide it's time to cut the Coca Cola out of my life, I go through withdrawal for a couple of days. I normally have headaches almost every day but when I go through withdrawal it's much more severe. After 3 days it eases up and I go for months without craving a coke. I've recently started trying to drink more water with Diet Arizona Green Tea with honey for a treat and found that it satisfies me. I like iced tea but have to say this doesn't taste like "tea". It's really refreshing. Hopefully this will help with weight loss! I feel for all of us who crave Coke. You can drink it all day and still not get satisfied. Talk about empty calories! |
