Well one reason was for my health. I've done research and Diet Coke really isn't that good for you. I've got sooooo much more energy. I wake up earlier in the mornings (which is a big plus for me LOL so I'm not running around and trying to rush to get to work on time hehehe) and I no longer get headaches at all. I use to get headaches all day at work and I always thought it was from being on the computer all day but it's not -- it was from the Diet Coke because after I gave it up (and after the detox period), the headaches went away completely.

I've also noticed that my teeth are a lot whiter since giving it up. I'm going to have my teeth bleached when my braces come off anyway but still it's nice to know that I'm not drinking anything to make them darker.

It also really helped me because hubby doesn't not drink Diet Coke. We're a lot alike in that we don't drink coffee either (only tea). Hubby is very in shape (extremely fit and works out) and he only drinks water and eats healthy. So he was really supportive of me and was my biggest motivation. Sooo many times I almost fell off the wagon and ordered a Diet Coke while we were out at a restaurant but he always gave me pep talks and told me how great I was doing and not to spoil it because then all of my hard work would have gone down the drain. What can I say, the man is a gem.

From my research, I have discovered that normal coke is actually better than diet coke for the people like me who have headeaches!

So, I got myself some normal coke...but only 7 cans....usually I would have gotten 42...LOL

Your hubby sounds like a great guy. You're happy to have him. My hubby is the same, he does not drink coke at all and he is a health freak...

So he offers me a lot of support...Seems like we're both in good hands!!!

Yes, regular Coke is better because Diet Coke contains aspartame and a few other ingredients that are bad for us. I just could never drink regular Coke because I prefer the taste of Diet Coke. I really do miss it sometimes but especially when we go out to dinner (and we eat out a lot).

ohhh i love coke but i haven't drank any in a while. I carry my water bottle around with me and that seems to help remind me to drink it.

For you Diet Coke lovers that HATE the Aspertame they now make Diet Coke with Splenda...it is wonderful! I am not near the addict I used to be tho...I max out at 2 cans a day...most days only 1 can...but Diet Coke with Splenda is definitely worth a try...I think it tastes great and no bad effects from Aspertame which always gave me terrible headaches anyway...carry on!

Splenda is an artificial sweetener that does not contain aspertame...it is made from sugar but the calories have somehow been removed. I am sure there are some here who will argue how bad it is for you, but I have a diabetic husband with a sweet tooth so it has been a dream come true for us. Some interesting facts here...SPLENDA® Brand Sweetener - I buy Splenda at Walmart and Sam's...Walmart has their own brand that is just as good.
