California Proposition 2 has me so upset & sad

We have no proposals I dont believe as of yet concerning gay marriage this election. We had it last election and it did not pass. I voted against it last time and I will continue to. I don't believe CA "un-doing it" it would be a step backwards, I think allowing it is, IMO.
We have prop 1 and 2 as far as I have read. I know these are individual to each state I thought someone had said from another state that theirs was the same as CAs, so I was just commenting on it. We have medicinal marajuana and embryonic stem cell research. We usually have a lot more, so I am wondering if I am just not seeing something?

I agree. Its not a step backwards IMO also. Im glad we can discuss these things without being upset with each other. I found something out from Nikki that I was not aware of. Thats why sometimes discussing things like this, you can see other views.

Yes, I can see why some people might lean towards thinking that that it effects so many people when it is worded in certain ways. It just gives us all a better education on it and can help us to educate other on it as well that may not understand their options.

I think I worded mine wrong. I agree that they should un do the law that has passed here in California. We did not get to vote on it and once allowed to this election I know it will be overturned. There is nothing wrong with undoing something that may not be right. California also has basically became a non smoking state. I don't smoke anyways, my husband does. You can be fined $125 for smoking in public areas (which is anywhere outside your home) I think California is insane when it comes to everything!! Let the people decide for crying out loud!

I was curious how your stem cell prop was worded so I took a look. You're not missing anything- there are only 2- . Lucky Michigan- it takes me forever to study and figure out what all of our props actually mean although we only have 3 this year ourselves.

It has not affected me at all. My dear awesome groomer and breeder (same guy) is gay. I asked him if he wants to marry his partner and he said no. Its not about equality, its a unique decision by individuals.

I don't like when something is passed without the people having a chance to discuss and vote on it. The problem alot of us is having is we didn't get a voice in the choice, and if it is decided that this law will remain intact, and that is what we the people have decided, then that is fine with me.

No....the opposite coast in Va.

Let me share something going on here...or was. A lesbian couple married somewhere...Vermont I think....one is artifically inseminated, has the baby, her partner adopts baby. Couple broke up....mom who gave birth moves to Va...marriage is history. Va sides with birth mom and says other mom has no parental rights regarding baby.

So there is conservative Virginia at it's best.

A lot of times ...it's the group with the most lobbyists that sways the vote. Whichever group thinks they have more $$ at stake. We have no smoking bans...Va is still a big tobacco state. Gun reform? Mega please...that'll never happen here either.

I personally wouldn't be surprised to learn health insurance companies lobby against same sex marriages...afterall...those same 2 people are insured seperately now at a higher rate than a family or self and spouse policy.

Very interesting. I don't know how to feel about same sex marriage when it comes to the children. I guess as in all relationships there is usually joint custody, but since one parent isn't biological, then I can see why they have no rights to the child. So confusing, this is one reason why I don't know why it became legal here, there are too many what ifs that dont apply to traditional marriage.
