![]() I usually get my burgers from Jandis (Jandi's Natural Market - Home Page), a health food store in Long Island. They even have a really great little eat-in cafe section. Sometimes hubby and I grab lunch or dinner (depending on what time we go) before our grocery shopping. The burgers are in the organic deli section and they are FRESH, not frozen. The walnut meat recipe that I posted is more for like tacos (like ground "beef") but I guess you could make it into patties -- I never tried it but I will the next time I whip up a batch! Some people don't have stores by them that sell raw burgers fresh. Jandis isn't by me -- it's about a 30 minute drive -- but I try to go every 2 weeks to keep my kitchen stocked lol Sometimes it's just easier for people to go to their local store and buy the frozen burgers. So, here are some you can buy that are SOY FREE:ONLY 1 of the veggie burgers from Amy's Kitchen are SOY FREE -- and they are the CALIFORNIA VEGGIE BURGERS Amy's Kitchen - Products This link is for Sunshine Burgers. I like them but still don't eat a lot of them because they contain grains -- and vegans stay away from that. But like I said, I'm not 100% vegan. So I do eat these once in a while or if I didn't get over to Jandis to buy my raw burgers. These are really yummy. I usually only buy the ORIGINAL SUNSHINE BURGER and the GARDEN SUNSHINE BURGER because they are only 190 calories, whereas the other 2 burgers are 240 and 250 calories. These are also USDA Organic and a nice option for those staying away from Soy. ![]() Veggie burgers, nutritional, and health food products. Ellenville, NY

| I believe Morning Star contains soy too. I use to eat their "sausage" patties.

I go to the Whole Foods on 7th Avenue and West 24th. I usually walk there after work, do my shop and then hubby drives in to pick me (and all the groceries lol) up.

I'd love for you to send me the links. That sucks cause i love soy milk but i don't drink it all the time anyway, i just love the chocolate one. and i didn't know tofu was made of soy beans but i was planning on making stuff with that also but that's okay, as long as i find other things i can make that doesn't have soy im good. i will still drink my milk and yogurt, just not much. It's funny cause the yogurt i got, it's called Whole Soy & Co is vegan but it's the only yogurt i can eat, other yogurts just taste weird to me, i dont like the tangy taste they have and i never have liked reg. milk either so thats what made me try soy and i just loved the taste. But im anemic and someone had told me that soy is good for that, but who knows. about the soda, omg i used to be addicted to it too, still am coping with that. My bf will buy 2 liters of coke, sprite all the time and i would drink them all, i just always had to have a cup in my hand with a bunch of ice cause i LOVE chewing ice, which i also heard is signs of anemia. anyway he would complain that i would drink all the soda and i told him 'you know what, stop buying them! i cannot see soda in the fridge and not drink it' so now if he wants soda he only buys a can for himself and hides it from me lol but for the past week i have successfully stuck to water, the thing i find that helps is if i just keep refilling a water bottle and have it by me all the time. If i don't do that and im thirsty i will drink whatever has sugar in it. It def. has made a diff. tho, on myself and on my skin, i suffer from acne now and then. Hopefully with my new diet it will get better. I'm also trying to not overeat on those carbs, i eat a lot of whole grains, the biggest challenge for me is getting enough protein in but so far i've been doing okay with that. That's why i made this thread, so i can get more recipes lol but there's tons of info here, and now i have a list of things to buy thanks to you guysThanks for the info on soy, i did google it real quick and saw tons of links, so im going to do my research on it. I read a quick snip about how it can prevent fertility and that's now good.

It's far from me though, well not that far but i can't buy that much stuff cause then i would have to carry it all on the train unless we take the car but we rarely use it in the city. I love that one though, they have so many good food ready to eat! But yea fairway is in manhattan, there's probalby like 4 of them, the one i go to is on 125th by the hudson, but i think there's 2 more downtown.

| MIXED BEAN CHILLI. 2 onions, finely chopped. 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped. 1.5 TSP paprika. 1 TSP dried or fresh Thyme. 1 Red pepper, diced. 1 green pepper, diced. 1 can of tomatoes. 2 TSP Tomato ketchup or puree. A good splash of Tabasco sauce. A sprinkle (0.5 TSP) Chilli flakes. 200 grams (or 1 can) of cooked kidney beans. 200 grams (or 1 can) of cooked chick peas. 1 TSP cornflour dissolved in cold water. (optional) Saute the onion, garlic, paprika and Thyme very gently; Add the peppers and allow to soften without browning. Add the remaining ingredients, and let the whole lot simmer for a good long time. Taste for seasoning, it may need a pinch of sugar, a squeeze of lime juice, or extra Tabasco. Serve with Lime & Coriander creme fraiche; Tip a tub of creme fraiche into a pretty serving dish. Beat it with the juice of half a Lime, pinch of salt, and a good Tablespoonful of finely chopped coriander. Serve the Chilli in bowls, sprinkle more coriander over the top and serve with Nacho's, wild rice, Guacamole, and creme fraiche, or, just bread. who cares when the Chilli is this good?!
