| I can't use Boca Burgers because they contain soy and I try to avoid soy. I make my meat out of nuts mostly. This is a DELICIOUS raw vegan taco recipe that I make all the time and my hubby loves it! Smells and tastes like real ground beef but it's walnuts lol ![]() By the way, this salsa is AMAZING! I make it when I'm going over to someone's house and they dip chips it in (I use carrots instead) and EVERYONE loves it and always asks me for the recipe! Ground Walnut Meat 1 1/2 Cups Raw Walnuts, Ground in a Food Processor 1 1/2 TSP Ground Cumin 3/4 TSP Ground Coriander 2 TBSP Nama Shoyu (Raw, Organic Soy Sauce) In a small mixing bowl, combine the walnuts, cumin, and coriander and mix well. Add the nama shoyu (soy sauce) and mix well. Spread approximately 1/3 cup of the walnut mixture along the center stem of each collard green leaf, then add a layer of shredded lettuce. Top with approximately 1/3 cup of the salsa just before serving. Fresh Tomato Salsa 2 Cups Tomatoes, Chopped 3/4 Cup Fresh Cilantro, Chopped 1/2 Cup Scallions, Chopped 2 TBSP Fresh Lemon Juice 1 TBSP Extra Virgin Olive Oil 2 Cloves Garlic, Minced 1/8 to 1/4 TSP Cayenne Pepper 3/4 TSP Sea Salt 1 1/2 TSP Ground Cumin 3/4 TSP Ground Coriander Combine all of the ingredients in a medium mixing bowl, mix well, and serve. I always make sure to use different tomatoes -- like cherry, grape, plum and beefsteak for a nice variety and it also looks so much prettier! ![]() Then as your taco shell, you use COLLARD GREEN LEAVES w/ the stems cut off. I also shred about 1 cup of ROMAINE LETTUCE and put that in my taco. This is really a delicious meal and totally vegan! Hubby isn't a vegan -- so he shreds some cheddar cheese and puts it on his tacos but I don't. If you want the "illusion" of cheese, you can finely shred some carrots ... but it's totally for show! Enjoy!!

| YT 2000 Club Member | I have been vegetarian for almost 4 months now and I will substitute Morning Star Meal Starter Giller Crumbles for the ground beef for any foods that call for ground beef. I have made chilli, stuffed Shells, and shepherds pie, My 4 boy's and Husband will eat it and they say it is good! It's nice that you still have the same texture as the ground beef but 80% less fat!

| I'm going to be on the look out for Quorn chicken substitutes. How are they price wise (inexpensive, comparable to actual chicken, etc.)?

edit to add- they also aren't soy based for those who try to stear clear. I eat soy products in moderation but I know there are a lot of theories on that.

Oh weird- I'm online but my light was off. It's strange to see your own light off. Anyway- to keep OT - You should definitely try them- they are really good. The first few times I bought it I caught Lauren reading the label because she was afraid I was serving her real meat.

| Donating YT 11K Club Member | So i just got back from the supermarket, this supermarket here is not really good, so they don't have the 'fake meat' or anything but i did buy some vegetarian cage free eggs, at first i was like, wait how are they vegatarian?? lol but my bf explained to me that they are fed a vegetable diet, im slow. im going to have to go to fairway or whole foods later on. tonight im going to eat some beans with quinoa and veggies. and i stocked up on nuts, but damn it's hard to stop eating them! A reminder for next time: don't go to the supermarket hungry...i wanted to buy everything there including my fav. icecream lol but i MADE myself put it back after i walked around the supermarket with it

I'd rather learn to make them myself and know what im eating. btw why don't you eat much soy? The reason i ask is because i love soy milk, and soy yogurt, tofu but my bf told me he heard soy is not so good for women cause of something with cancer, do you know anything about that cause i don't want to risk anything lol but i love soy

Also, there are veggie burgers out there with NO soy and they taste yummy! I can send you some links if you'd be interested in buying them. I also love raw burgers (like I just had for lunch a spinach salad and a raw sunflower seed/veggie burger. It looks JUST LIKE a real beef burger and tastes sooo similar (it even SMELLS like a burger lololol) but it's soy and gluten free and all veggies and seeds. SOOOO DELICIOUS, you would love it!!! Without getting into too much detail, I use to have a lot of problems w/ my menstral cycle. Once it stopped all together and I went to a whole bunch of doctors and specialists and it was determind that the soy was doing it. So now I avoid soy and diet soda all together (diet soda is bad for weightloss -- makes you hungry). Again, this is just me. I know a lot of people love diet soda (I personally use to be addicted to Diet Coke, no joke) but I gave it all up and what a huge difference it has made! If you ever want to talk about this in more detail, just PM me. I've been doing a lot of research on this subject lolol Make sure you are getting enough protein. I eat more raw vegan than I do vegetarian because vegetarians eat dairy and bread and too much bread it just fattening. I still have some bread once in a while and dairy too but only once in a while. I do about 85% vegan and 15% vegetarian because once in a while I want some fresh mozzarella in my salad or I will be in the mood for a bowl of cereal. For example, if I want a burger on a roll, I will have a whole wheat pita (they are only 70 calories) and put a raw sunflower burger on it w/ lettuce, tomato, sliced pickles and red onion and it's amazing -- better than any other burger I ever had!
