I had the help of chantix. I just took it Day by day and then month to month... now it will be year to year.
I taste things better. I love that I still smell clean at the end of the day, and not like smoke..
When I am around smoke I hate it and as soon as I get home I shower. I really can not stand the smell any more.
I try really hard not to that (Ex smoker that is mean) I just do my best not to go where people smoke.

My grandfather died from it. My Mother has infazema and maybe worse than that.
My grandma was given 6 moths to live 7 months ago.. she just had her PET scan done and the Cancer is GONE! It will come back but it is gone for now and we could not be more over joyed.
I wish every one well and you all have my total support in trying to stop smoking. (((HUGS)))

I used the Chantix too. Cut my cig smoking down to next to nothing. And one day I just said enough is enough. I didn't touch those 3 or 4 cigs that day and haven't touched one since.
My sis told me recently it was nice to smell my perfume instead of cigarette smoke.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!
My hubby and I quit together....cold turkey....2 yrs 8 months and 22 days ago!!! We quit on New Years Day..as a gift of life to each other!! FEELS GREAT!
For those still trying to quit....keep on trying....one day it will stick!

I'm really happy for you! You're an inspiration, truly! I've been smoking for 8years, I can't even believe it's been that long and right now I'm not ready to quit, I think to quit you have to be ready to, so congratulations! I hope I can one day celebrate a year anniversary as well!

It is true that you have to be somewhat mentally ready. I think it helps to pick a quit date that coincides w/something special- mine was oct 6th two days b/f my b-day. Also I had help from wellbutrin & committ lozenges mint (I smoked menthols so this helped alot). Another thing is to try & not do things for awhile that are to hard to resist wanting to smoke- For me it was my morning coffee-I wanted that cig really bad w/my coffee so I had to change somethings up for awhile until I adjusted. I do really like in louisiana now there is no smoking allowed in restuarants which I think is a step in the right direction.

You definately have to change routines. I agree. Im giving up caffiene and alcohol for at least 3-4 months. Those are my biggest triggers to smoke. I usually have a glass of wine a couple times a week with dinner, and have a coke every morning. My quit date is in about one to two weeks. Whatever our closing date on our house is. The last owners were nonsmokers, so no smoke smell. So, new house, new life.

It can't come soon enough. I want to be healthy....

I think you're going to do fine!! if you need anything you can always pm me! another thing too & I don't remember if anyone posted it on here-another thing I had trouble in the beginning was being on the phone & wanting one but I read somewhere to put a rubberband on your wrist & play with it so you have something to do w/your hands & it really did work

congrats on your new house, I know you've got to be sooo excited!

CONGRATULATIONS !!!! I will be celebrating 3 years of being smoke free on Aug 28. I used Wellubtrin to help me quit after smoking for over 30 yrs. It sure does feel great doesn't it.....
